OH, this one makes me smile big! I feel the same about my daughter (in law, I know, I KNOW)---
Isn't it a blessing to have such a fine relationship? It's really a gift to both of you every day of the year!
If this is silly, why are my eyes raining happy drops????

Since mother in-laws always get a bad rap, I'm proud that my son picked such a sweet girl, who I love dearly! I couldn't pass up an opportunity to write a poem for May Day, which was also Mel's birthday and have a little fun with it. Thanks Karenina, for your kind review and very lovely comments.
I caught, that you caught the line through in-law, as how wonderful that you feel the same about yours. That says a lot about you my beautiful friend! Debi

I see you are in Minnesota. Spring has a tough time breaking through out there. Here in Maine, it struggles sometime, but it's not as bad as you have it.

Paul, I absolutely love Maine! My husband and I went east in the Autumn one year, and after stopping on at Mackinaw Island and Niagara Falls, we went to Maine and traveled the East coast. You are much like MN where the Fall colors are beautiful!. Regarding my poem, since mother in-laws always get a bad rap, I'm proud that my son picked such a sweet girl, who I love dearly! I couldn't pass up an opportunity to write a poem for May Day, which was also Mel's birthday and have a little fun with it. Thanks Paul for reading and reviewing it. Debi

"Happy Mel May Day" celebrates in simple words an important person's birthday. The poem's love and good will are unmistakable, and while it's not a stellar poem, it's good.

Thanks Frank, you know how much I respect you and your feedback, so I love hearing your opinion. LOL, you should have seen it right after I lost it while editing and realized that I also forgot to save the original. Then I was panicking thinking that theres people out there who maybe reviewing this mess. I was frantic! I should have never posted anything, because I had had a blood transfusion and and other stuff done, so I agree, I can do better.
I'm not doing a pity party, but instead admitting that when they say go home and sleep. I should do that. I certainly understand what a mess I made by jumping the gun on posting something thats not ready yet.

It is a fine birthday greeting! To be or not to be poetry, that is the quest...

You are so funny Frank!
I just couldn't pass up an opportunity to honor
Mel and May together : )

This poem, Happy Mel May Day, brings the readers to the understanding that Mel was born on the first day of May. Now I might be wrong, but I'm not. Happy MelMay Day!

What a lovely thing. I really like the way you have written this (as if a sketch) full of imagination. Bravo.
And what better symbol could one have? Mel's eyes light the gloom of any winter, she is radiant and beautiful. Welcome the turning of seasons. May you both be well and enjoy life to the fullest, only one, as we know it.
My best wishes.
Hay May Day Mel.

Lol, your reviews are so much fun to read RG, and I thank you so very much for your sweet comments and review.
I just got done reading your interview with Terry, and I must say that I was so completely impressed
.
Because my style has always been ( for the most part) a bit of comical with an end twist. So I agreed 100% that what is between the lines are so important, rather than just rhyming.
I would really be honored if you would read some of them as I always worry about overdoing the silly. Thanks so much RG!

What a gentle, kind poem you've written for your daughter in law ... an easy rhyme, and a smooth meter, though I confess it was a bit of a tongue twister to read aloud! Thanks for sharing this, and happy birthdqay to MEL!

She should christen Mayday as 'Myday' and celebrate it like it is a Friday. Drink and dance without care or concern. Hey, one day out of 365, you must be allowed a bit of freedom right? With your help and encouragement, you can make it happen.

Haha! Believe me, we used to. In my book that I wrote poems for everyone in my family; one stanza of Mel's Poem reads like this,
" you and I became very good friends, we talked and we laughed with good cheer, Had us some fun, sang us some songs, as we sat at the bar with a beer!" ......... Thanks Nomi for always making me smile!

I like it!
