Thank you for a lovely, timely reminder from someone who has been too distracted by the negative side of life in recent weeks! This is beautifully written and so very true.

I quit watching/listening to news years ago. It only depressed or saddened me and there was nothing I could do to make things better. I hear enough news from other people. I shy away from anything sad or gloomy. I prefer to focus on the beauty of life, just as you've pointed out.

Nicely said and I too believe we all choose what we focus in on. I love nature from the beautiful sunrises and sunsets to all the animals, flowers etc. There is much evil and ugliness too that's why it's so important to smell the roses along the way.

A wonderful thought provoking work Sally. It is true that we revel in the beauty of God's creations, but don't stop to think of Him who provided it.
There are few things out there that can compensate for daily horror than following your path to beauty

Another uplifting piece :) It's always a pleasure to read your posts. :)
Again, the prose flows well. There's two things that stood out for me. One good, and one not so good:
I love the aside: Also, a good ice cream shop doesn't hurt, either. This helps give the narrative voice personality.
Our eyes will always be drawn to the blight of life like a magnet. -- I'm not sure this is always true. Some people actively avoid acknowledging life's hardships. If this was mine, I'd nix the always, and the magnet simile. Maybe something like this may be better: Our eyes are apt to be drawn to the blight of life.

Thank you for the excellent review and kind critique. You?re such a helpful person and reviewer. I love the improvement you suggested and will add the word ?instinctively.? Yes, I have friends and relatives who work very hard not to see, however, they still look as it is human nature to do so.
Always my best to you and yours,
Sal :+)

Loved this meditation, Sal. And as I was reading my mind went to Philippians 4 just like you ended with. And I love the Newsboys so thanks for sharing that, too. May we all be focused on the beauty God surrounds us with!

Yes, we live in a fallen world and as it moves further and further away from the truth of God, it gets darker. The news is depressing. They have way over done it with hating on Trump, everyday murders, more than one, teachers arrested for molesting kids, kids abused, it's sickening and unbelievable. But if we know who is in control, we do not despair, and have the fellowship of Christ and other Christians to keep us at peace. There is so much beauty in the world, we tend to forget it amongst all the ugliness. Really well written, saw no errors and encouraging.
I wanted to let you know, I rewrote part of that last chapter, and got lots of help from Walkerman as well. I don't think I have ever read any of his posts until the other day. I don't even remember seeing him on here. He is very professional. So thank you for getting me to look at the chapter and work harder on it. Rox

You are blessed. Walkerman is my mentor and encourager, as well. I can?t say enough good things about him. I will check out your revised chapter right now.
Thank you for the excellent review and comments. We agree on many things, dear Rox.

If we will our days with the good natural things in life we are uplifted and positive and feel live is worth living. Unfortunately jobs where you see the other side of life can bring you down. It is important to surround ourselves with pleasant things and invite those into our life who will enrich us, I enjoyed your words Sally, well said, love Dolly x

You're exactly right, Sal. The natural world is so much more beautiful than what's on television, movie screen, or phone display. Well written and I agree.
