I must be one of the oldest children around but I loved it. As well as tripping beautifully of my ancient tongue this reminded me me of a holiday in Corfu about thirty years ago. In a restaurant by the harbour the proprietor told me to come back later that evening as it was a special saint's day. When I asked him what was to happen he merely replied, "We eata lotta goat!"
We did.

Thanks for the fun review! I have had a good time writing these Alphabet Kids, but I am still glad to finally have a full set with which to find a publisher. Love "lotta goat.''
Comment from Mustang Patty
this is lovely. I had to laugh when I saw the picture - my daughter used to place olives on all of her fingers at every family dinner where they graced the table. It was so cute - and I have a picture very similar to the one you used.
Thank you for sharing this book - I've enjoyed it tremendously,

Thanks so much Patty. I think that the olives/fingers thing is a universal. That's why I chose Greece and little Umay for the book. Glad to offer up a laugh for you. - Wendy

Cute poem and I guess you'll soon have a painting too. I think I'll have a look at that book. Kids love alphabet books. You could have a big seller here! :)

Thanks for the encouragement, Phyllis. I am doing a bit of stewing myself over how to approach this, self publish vs sending it out to every publisher I can find and wait for the rejection slips or acceptance. Still in the middle of the due diligence on that, but no more excuses that it isn't finished yet. - Wendy

This book is definitely good enough to be picked up by a publisher. The pictures will grab their attention and then the poems will blow them away. You really should try. There are lots of kids' book publishers. :)

Hi Kerry, thanks for taking the time to R & R little Umay. I have made plans to do the Greek today. Each time I proofed it I got hungrier. I think the olives on fingers is universal. - Wendy

I love your poem and would love to read the rest of your book. This could be any little girl in Calif. although I really relate to the Greek side as well, having lived in
Lindos,Rhodos Is. and married to a Greek American.

Thanks for the enthusiasm, Barb. I now have to face the dreaded publishing stuff. I am still researching and deciding, but all the kind reviews keep my courage up. - Wendy

Everyone loves olives, but the bitterest thing you'll ever taste is an unprocessed olive. They will definitely bring out your gag reflex. When my daughter was young, she loved green olives. She called them picklees.

Thanks for the review Tom. I think the olives on the fingers is a universal kid thing, so that's why I wrote the poem around it. I am a green fan too, so tell your daughter she is in good company and I love that she made up a special name for them. - Wendy
