A very deep and emotional poem. As I read it I can feel the sadness growing inside. This is beautifully done and I can't imagine the pain of losing your partner for life. Just one tiny thing which I didn't really understand...sorry..what is the prepares, why continue on life.....was it purpose. Not sure but I did read it several times and still wasn't sure. Genya

What an emotional and heart-felt poem this is, deepwater. I can't imagine the devastation after sixty years with the same love.
In such a short poem, I feel your rhymes need to be spot on. Your lost/soul does not rhyme. They aren't even slant rhymes.
I've read the phrase. "What is the prepares" over and over and I'm sorry, but I can't understand what it means. Perhaps a word like reason might work better than prepares? Just a suggestion.
For such an emotional poem, I hope you can make it the best it can be.
Smiles,

I am so sorry for your loss. I went through this when I lost my husband of 56 years in 2009. It has taken me this long for the pain of loss to ease up. Poetry does help. I thought at one time I must be bleeding words because it did help lift my heavy heart. Keep writing and reading. It will get better. Nancy

I very heartfelt poem. Good rhythming word choices. I loved the last line. A beautiful picture. My favorite line was solitary by definition to events just lost. Great job:)

A very sad poem about the death of a man's wife. Everybody has deep philosophical doubts about things when losing a loved one, something that's expressed wonderfully in this deeply personal poem. Time does seem to stand still for those who've recently lost a family member, a fact well expressed in the poem.

deepwater: this is the saddest poem I have ever read. You have such fabulous words to express yourself, I read your poems slowly and let those words roll around on my tongue for a minute. Continued great work. livelylinda

A very philosophical creation about clocks. The title attracted my attention, and your words didn't disappoint. When we lose someone close, it' like time stopped. I've been through this several times during the past few years.
These are some lines that stood out:
Solitary by definition to events just lost,
Diligence to recovery for this ascending soul,
What is the prepares, why continue on life,
Sixty years of marriage I just lost my wife.
Great job.

I wanted to cry when I read the last line. It would be difficult to find a reason to continue after you lose your best friend and life partner. I hate to think of a life without mine. Nice work.
