Beautiful story of new life and the miracle of how it comes to be. Very appropriate as we start the New Year. I'm sure you've watched the birth of a colt. I've seen calves born and watched my grandchildren come into the world and I'm amazed at the magic of the moment.

Hi again Beth! Thank you so much. I have seen foals born, just not my horses. They would always wait me out, and after I got too tired, they'd have them, after I went inside. Now, they make cameras so you can watch them from your house! :) Thanks again Beth! Hug, Susan

A very interesting tale of birth from a horse's point of view. This is well written with a smooth flow of words, making for an easy read.

Don't think this was just fantasy you wrote, You seem to know quite a bit about it. Your story was well written and held my attention till the end. Love horses anyway.

Nicely done, Susan. There are so many aspects of nature
we humans arrogantly overlook. You use of the moon
as the catalyst is a nice touch. Who is to say it isn't that way. As always, your love of horses shines through.
Peace, Lee

Hi Lee, Thank you so much! I always feel so alive when I'm outside, whether it be under the sun, in moonlight, even in the rain. I would sleep outside all the time if I could. :) I'm glad you enjoyed this one! ... hug, Susan

This was a lovely short story. I loved that she waited for the humans to get out of the way. It finished well... That the magic of the moonlight stirred her will to live.
I saw no errors.

This is a good story. At first, you had me believing that the little horse was not going to survive. It sure took it a long time to come around. That cat was one nasty little thing waiting to eat the afterbirth. I think horses are beautiful but for some odd reason they are frightened of me. My friend used to have one and it would run every time I came near. Happy New Year. Kudos. ;)

Hi Bryan! Thank you! I bet if you were around horses more often, you would relax and they wouldn't run off. The one your around may just be silly too. Try taking a peeled apple for it? Peel it, they hate the wax the stores put on the apples. Keep your hand flat too, or it will accidently bite your hand. Wish you could be around my three. You'd love them. And they would like you too. Happy New Year to you too Bryan! Thank you for a kind and welcome review...OUCH...time for pain meds. Hug, Susan

Great story, well written, and I'm glad it ended well for the little filly and her mother. Thanks for sharing.
She sighed and moaned,(. There) there was no way to escape the stall, so she resigned herself to the twelve by twelve enclosure and relaxed.
The little filly stirred as the rays of moonlight shone on her,(no comma) and(comma) as if waking from a dream, she jerked up, trying to stand, but stumbled and almost toppled over, her new legs weak and wobbly.
