Masterful, Jay.
I'd love to be able to focus on the content of this story, but my excitement for this piece returns to how it was written and the precise passion exuded in each word and sentence. I loved it, of Course! Best, JohnC

Your picking up on that is as important to me as following the thin plotline. As Jung said, "There is no linear evolution; there is only a circumambulation of the self." Good to have you here, John. You are an important part of my reviews.

Good mornig, Jay!
There is one humdinger of a thunderstorm raging outside this morning = just the kind of weather on a Sunday morning that begs me to stay inside and read.
And what a treat I have found in your exceptionally well-crafted biographical work.
I was engrossed in your work from your introduction to your final teasing line.
Haunting, beautiful images.
Believable and captivating descriptions and dialogue.
Much enjoyed, and I certainly am looking forward to when you will see
Miss Snider again and share ...
Thank you for a most enjoyable read, Jay!

Oh, dang it ... thank you, Diane! It's too early in the morning to have my emotions roused. I'm so happy you got something out of it. Stay inside and dry. We had a little spritz in Bakersfield overnight.

My pleasure, Jay!
Storm has stopped for now... Out to the gardens I go! :)

Not long at all when it's this great, my friend. I say this like a broken record, I suppose, but this is your best writing yet! I was spellbound. This was especially sweet too as I'm a sucker for relationship stories. An absolute tear jerker at 9 a.m.!
Sending you my best today as always,

I'm sure you have many stories like this, and as always this is well written, and it has a backstory vividly displayed. I think a few people have had these experiences but we never hear of them, but then, somebody called Jay Squires pops up, beautifully written Jay, blessings Roy

Awwww, Roy. Now I can go on. I got my Roy Owen confirmation that it struck a chord. I don't know why, when I read this back it seems like sarcasm. Not at all intended, my friend. Your opinion is sooooo important to me!

Not at all Jay,

Quite interesting.
So being in tune with oneself, and in tune with nature enables a person to more perfectly assemble their talents and their senses? Makes sense.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you. The contest won't be until January. I've learned though, if I'm going to spend a lot of time on a post to search for a contest that it might slide into.

This is one of the loveliest things I have ever read. I can feel the love you had for the two of them, and how you were so lucky to have that experience. You were truly gifted in that regard. Brilliant work. Did you ever see my first poem Remittance? Karen

Your first poem? No ... is it here? How deep in your portfolio is it? Why not send me a link to it. Meanwhile, thank you so much for your six lovely stars and your kind words.
Comment from Lance Levens
The portrayal of Miss Snider captures the woman with an uncommon affection, her hair, her gait, her playing, her midnight walk out. But the writer plants no seeds of conflict, either from within Miss Snider or from without, say from Anna. And conflict is the sine qua non of all good fiction. Thus, this isn't a story, but it is a lovely, if somewhat saccharine portrait.Having said that, I do see a possible story, lying dormant, in which Jay is the protagonist, but that would involve extending the action to Connecticut or wherever Anna is going.

Thank you, Lance. Your review of this is the type we need more of here on FanStory. You not only gave points of weakness, but also direction to bring it to life. I wouldn't remove one word of help from your analysis.
That said ... Heh-heh ... this is biography (actually, autobiography, which wasn't an option Fanstory gives to choose from. More accurately, since it's not a full autobiography, this is more of a memoir. In any event, it doesn't allow for more fictional wiggle room.
But this is said without taking away one iota of what I said about your needed abilities here. Don't change!

This was a very interesting interlude in your life, Jay with these two ladies. Beautifully written and with your descriptions of her piano playing I could almost hear it. A lovely true story that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Cheers.

Pearl, you are (like the clasp on Miss Snider's hair) the real thing! Thank you for reading and for your kind words. I'm glad you found it relevant and entertaining.
