This was a very well-put-together poem, equipped with beautiful photos of nature at her best. I loved the first stanza; it reminded me of myself. I like to stay behind closed doors and drawn shades, but once out, I really enjoy myself.

Diane,
This is a long poem that describes the need for us to mingle with nature. Also it reminds us of its beauty in all seasons. It shows both the your feelings and those of natures original inhabitants. The poem is nicely illustrated by the artwork you chose to break up the print.
Keep writing and stay healthy

This was lovely. The imagery was so vivid I really felt like I was talking a walk along that pond, all the senses were engaged with this poem. I loved the personification of the blue jay and wondering what makes him ornery.

Diane, your words are beautiful, and the pictures bring them alive. What a beautiful place you have to explore. How I wish I could be there, enjoying all the birds and flowers (especially the trilliums) with you. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Hello, Anne!
I am honored by your exceptional rating and complimentary review!
Such a joyful poem to present. No walking anywhere today = ice storm last evening and through most of today! But spring is on her way!
Thank you!

You are welcome, Diane. We had some freezing rain over night as well.

That old bluejay has to learn that the world does not belong to him or to you, but as something wonderful to be shared by all forms of life, including the vegetation. It is wonderful to be able to commune with nature and enjoy the bountiful life that exists in a place coincidentally named Miller's Creek. (Miller is my last name.)

I imagine Walden Pond was quite the same for Thoreau... A slip away from ties that bind to visit nature and find peace in the beauty there! My favorite place for prayer and quiet contemplation is quite like this! Beautifully shared!

Oh my! I typed that out on my Kindle! Autocorrect on that thing gets me every time! "Walden Pins"---Sounds like a great name for a bowling alley!
Loved your poem...

I enjoyed this outing to Miller's Pond, diane. Your lovely descriptive words, together with the sounds and photos, created an idyllic moment. You are fortunate to have this special place, just a hike away, to refresh and rejuvenate your spirit. Blue jays are bold entertaining birds. Where I live they are at their loudest in summer. When I sit on the porch chatting with my grandkids, they interrupt with their own chatter. LOL The deer and her fawns must have been a magical sight. Maybe it's my imagination, but I think wild life has become bolder since the outbreak of the pandemic. Foxes have become common visitors to backyards, day or night. Even bald eagles are seen.
I wish you the best in the contest, my friend.
Stay safe and blessed

We were doused with an ice storm last evening through today! No walking anywhere! But spring is in the air; I can feel it! :)

I would love to walk along Miller's Pond with you and listen to the Blue Jays. Harley, my little dog, wasn't too fond of them as I read. He barked trying to figure out where the noise came from. Thank you for sharing.

This is an excellent free verse. The use of visual images as well as audio are very effective. The descriptive language you use so clearly places me at Miller's Pond with the blue jays. You mention in your notes that the photos are from Google images, but do you live where you can see blue jay's? They are one of my favorite birds. I'm from Michigan and I saw them all the time growing up.

Hello fellow Michigander!
So pleased you enjoyed!!
I?ve lived in Michigan all my life, and have called Traverse City home for the past 43 years!
And yes, that blue jay and I are close friends...
Thank you!

I had a feeling that you were from Michigan! I grew up outside of Detroit in Jackson. Reading about blue jay?s this morning brought back find childhood memories. Enjoy your Sunday.
