Awe this was pulling my feelings all over the place. Was this based on a true story or did you come up with this on your own!? Very touching story. Good job!

In the vernacular of the good old days is not an easy thing to do but you have done a fine job. Reads well, the subject is great, rhythm and thyme too. giovanni

Hello Willie P. Smith,
Nice piece of Western Poetry having lucid wording, smooth flow throughout from the beginning to the end with lovely rhyming scheme, and incorporating a beautiful story.
The last two lines are particularly noteworthy.
Interesting Indeed!
BEST of LUCK in the contest.

Nice tale about an old man and his pet mule. I like how you draw a picture of all the tools on the mule's back, and looking for gold in the mountains in your poetry. Well done.

Willie, I like the warm hearted tone of this poem. A man who loses his mule and you surmise their together in eternity. This poem tugged at me especially since i have lost pets. I like the way you use country vernacular. Very effective. Excellent poem. Best wishes,
Cindy

Oh, no, what a sad story. It started out as such a charming little poem and I wasn't expecting that ending. Well, it's simply being realistic, I guess. I prefer to live in a magical world. All of that aside, you did a terrific job with this writing. The meter was spot on and you did a good job with your choice of rhyming words. Hugs, Lou

The use of "cowboy" language was very interesting! It gave a lot of personality to this poem. Even though the ending was sad, you have done a great job with this one.

Awe, that is such a bittersweet story you have told within your poem. I loved it and it brought a little tear to my eyes. I'm sure the old man was eventually reunited with his old friend. It's a great entry, and good luck. Ulla:)))

I so enjoyed your poem! I share same thoughts as you, I love rhyming poetry, a story in a poem and have done several cowboy poems as well.
Your story ran very smoothly and the rhyming was right on. A perfect picture you've chosen to compliment your poem too. Glad Jim & Molly got together again in their final resting place. Good luck in the contest. Carol

I can believe this happened. People can become that attached to their companions whether it be human or an animal. Whether Jim found her or not, he probably died of loneliness. Sad but true. Good story, Willie. Well done. Nancy:)
