That's so sweet. Cave-man love. Where did Og learn to write? A weed, by definition, is a plant that grows where it is not wanted. My daughter studied horticulture. Whether it's a weed or flower depends on your point of view.

Thank you for the excellent review and kind comments. Writing in symbolic form dates back to the Bronze Age, 5,500 BCE. Ancient man and indigenous tribes had long told stories on the walls of caves and stones. Parchments were later discovered, as most of the Bible was written on parchments. The Book of Job is the oldest book of the Bible where Uz was located, approximately 586 BCE. I suppose Og learned to write in symbolic form as any of the cavemen did at that time.
    All the best,

You certainly have become the "Queen of Love Stories" on this site.

In this particular heartwarming story, caveman Og wisely realizes that a bath, a personalized gift obviously requiring some effort, and pretty flowers were likely to be the best combination to win Ugg's affection. Clearly, Og proved himself to be smart, skilled, and considerate; and Ugg valued those factors above whatever else other cavemen had offered.

Dandelions grow profusely without cultivation, and may be considered weeds in lawns and gardens; but they actually look beautiful in vast expanses of grass, and are completely edible with significant nutritional value if not contaminated by herbicides or roadside fumes.

Chopped dandelion root cooked in water supports liver heath; and dandelion leaves (best harvested in spring when most tender and less bitter) support both eye health (as they are rich in beta-carotene) and kidney health. The yellow flowers are edible too, and also support eye health. The safest way is to steam them for about fifteen seconds and then add them to a salad. You can hold them by their stems to do that, then cut off the stem right below each blossom.

Thus, if Og brought Ugg whole dandelion plants washed in water, he would have been bringing her food, too.

Superb, and aptly illustrated.

Thank you for the wonderful review of yet another love story. I am honored to have your reviews and comments gracing my work. It is so encouraging to me. So, I put dandelion leaves on my eye regime today. As far as dandelion greens go, I eat them in my salad. I eat a salad, typically every day. They are a bit bitter bit not too bad when mixed with the others. Thank you, again.
Sending you my best today as always,
    Sal :))

You are most welcome, Sal. Dandelion leaves are most tender and least bitter in early Spring. Just be sure of where they are harvested. Do not eat any growing within thirty feet of a road or anywhere sprayed to kill either weeds or insects, as those chemicals cause cancer. -- Mike

Dandelions are used in salads, so they are certainly nutritious, so perhaps Og and Ugg, discovered those things. It is wonderful that Og knew that girls like a clean caveman, and also poetry, even if drawn, well done Sally, loved this original and perceptive post, well done, blessings Roy

Are there more Og and Ugg
    stories to come? Hope so...
    maybe each holiday?
    I've been out trying something
    new...a blog and a
    facebook devotional page.
    Know what I discovered? Unless
you buy a ton of ads, only
my friends will see them. Anyhow,
we will see how that goes.
So how are you? Do you have big

Hi Sally:) I am back, sort of.
    My older brother died
    unexpectedly yesterday,
right after I was on fanstory.
I thought I might enter the story
contest, so I got out my pen
    and notebook and the second
    I sat down...
    I got the fatal
call from my sister that John died.
Ugh...its awful and I am so sad.
Less than a year and 4 in my
family have died. I am not mad...
just sad. Its hard to process all the
    emotion so many times.
We are a very close family so
    he will be missed. Anyhow...poetry
is a good way to get out emotions.
I'm back mostly because I missed
    you! You're my sweet Sally!
I need you too. Hugs! Thank
    for being a sweet friend:)

Hello Sally. This is a dad gum hoot. That's Mayberry talk. I didn't know you were this funny. The new unit is funny and I laughed all the way through. (I hope this wasn't a serious story close parenthesis ha ha.

I guess the sequel will need to be Neanderthal Nuptuals. You need to let that one rip someday.

I'm giving six stars for humor and versatility. Way to go!

Hello Sally, you certainly know how to tell a story. This is lovely. You write and have the ability to make the reader anxious to know what will come next. The measure of a good writer. I've learned something tonight - 'The Land of Uz' - a real place and the home of Job. Interesting author notes. Just one more lovely piece of work from you. I enjoyed the read very much.
You ask 'Are dandelions weeds or wild flowers?'. They are flowers that grow in the wild. The weed is a term given because they are invasive and
compete with cultivated plants. I love to see them in fields where you cannot see the grass they overpower - but so beautiful. Love Dorothy xx

I'm learning so much about dandelions! We have so many among us with a green thumb. My husband majored in Lamdscape Architecture until he switched his major to psychology. I probably should've asked him. I'm so pleased you enjoyed Og and Ugg. You will see them again real soon. Sending you my best today as always,
    Sally xoxo

Ha ha, Things were so much similar back in the day, a wash, painted stone and a few pretty weeds : )) No jewelry, expensive holidays or a diamond rind needed back then. A fun little read Sally

This is a very creative piece of fiction. I enjoyed it immensely. Though brief, I really liked the characters and got a lot about them in your few but well chosen words. Hope you have plans to use them in future stories. As for dandelions, I think that happens to be ones own perspective. My understanding is that begonias are considered weeds in the Philippines, so take your pick.

Thank you so much for the outstanding review and encouraging words, dear Faye. As a matter of fact, you'll see Og and Ugg again. I do eat dandelion greens in my salads, but still taste the spikey-like texture. I eat them for my eyesight loss.

I'm so glad Og won his true love. It seems he took more and special care about the gifts he offered than the others had. Some people think dandelions are weeds, but I call them sweet little flowers.
