Jan, your letter to God is so realistic it hurts. I too am witnessing the devestation that drugs makes on their victims and families. Your well penned letter to God speaks more of his understanding and love than any other type of writing. May God continue to give you the peace you so sorely deserve, and healing for your son.

Oh my, such terrible grief poured onto this page, and I do beliee you heard those words in answer, so you must not despair - you've laid your troubles at His feet. (That is all anyone can do...)
A most beautiful entry for this prompt - best of luck (and I am joining with you in prayer for your son and all the others like him...)

Outstanding Non-fiction! This was read really touched my heart. The author conveyed being so sincere and vunerable.
I really liked how author put it before God. My thoughts regarding this thought provoking read as hard as it maybe is to let go and trust God. Thank you for such an intense and emotional read.............harmony13

You have written a gut-wrenching account of what you experienced, and you learned some valuable lesson along the way. Thank you for sharing them with us. You wrote: "Watching my son be arrested...," and I think the proper way to say it is "get arrested." The same sentence with this phrase is awkward because it is too long. Other than that, your writing is great. I enjoy reading stories and articles with good spiritual content. Keep up the good work.

The prayer to God is inspiring as you pray for your drug-addicted son. As parents, we can pray for and love our children, but there comes a time when we have done all we can for a stiff-necked son or grandson. God gives each of us free will to do with our lives as we wish. He will allow us to destroy ourselves if we chose, but He is there to forgive if we ask and repent. I find nothing in the Bible to indicate we can be forgiven of transgressions without our asking in faith.
Thank you for sharing your story.

This is a heartfelt plea to the Heavenly father that I am sure heard every word. And, you are right. We do the best we can, even though we make mistakes, in raising our children. But, God is the only one that can bring them back to His keeping. We have to stop trying to fix that which we cannot. Only God knows the answer. And, He is so much more powerful than we. We can pray for our children daily. And, let God do the rest. God Bless!

It gets no better than this. This is an awesome piece. A heart to heart conversation with the Lord who answers our prayers. This piece is a good example of letting go and letting God.

Wow - this moved me to tears. Extremely well written, its words conveyed the deep grief and sorrow you are experiencing over your dear son. I cry with you, as one mother to another. My son's problem is alcohol, and he is almost 29. The pain is so great and the sense of hopelessness, and helplessness, is enormous. And then there's the "mother guilt". I could see all this in here. And if we did not have our God to turn to, where would we go? He is our source of strength and hope, and an ever present help for us and our loved ones. Be strong!
This deserves every one of the six stars, for your heart-felt prayer, and the moving content. And God's answer. Well done.

How incredibly heart-breaking, Jan. And although all parents make some mistakes, please don't be too quick to blame yourself for your son's addiction. The bible says that God had many angelic sons, and some of them turned away from him to become Satan and the demons. So even a perfect parent, our Heavenly Father, does not guarantee perfect children. He has given each individual free will. Sadly your son chose a terrible path, and now that he is on that path it is extremely hard for him to break free. But all things are possible for God. Keep praying, Jan, and I will pray too, for both of you.
Hugs,
Grace
