I enjoyed this nice story in poem. Material things aren't what is important in life. It is love and caring. I like the fact you poem points this out in the last verse. Good luck in the contest.

sandra, it is a sad event in life that there are children so spoiled with the material things in life. the things they need are parents filled with love and a doting affection. the last stanza gives this well written poem the true meaning of your message. great choice of artwork to enhance this wonderful contest entry. good luck my friend,,,,,jim xx

Thank you so much for this review, Jim. I wish more people would look to see if there is another reason for the childs 'gifts' it's not always the reason people think. I am so pleased you understood my meaning, Jim, thank you. Sandra, xsx

Thank you for this lovely review, dmt, this is the thing, I think a lot of 'spoilt' children, would give up the toys for a cuddle now and again. Thank you, again! xsx Sandra.

Very nice Sandra. Poor little boy had everything but love.
That is very sad. You have such a talent for rhyme and meter and that makes your work very easy to read.Good luck in the contest. XSX Nancy

Thank you, Nancy, this is just one of those for experience type poems. Didn't you say you were going to enter a contest? I'm pleased you liked this one. I'm a bit down today, my lovely granddaughter, she's 11, was taken into hospital today, they found she is a diabetic and needs 4 injections a day, bless her. My brother has it too, from the age of 2, and he has 2 injections a day,I thought that was bad enough. Sorry to load that on you, especially as you have just given me such a lovely review, thanks Nancy!! xsx Sandra.

I admired your rhyming, flow and cadence. "Pampered Pet" was a funny description of this kid - when I first read the title, I thought this was about a pet.
Admired your story/poem about this unfortunate boy - I am sure he learned his lesson or will do so later in life.
Great entry for that interesting contest - I wish you luck with it!
Love, Yelena

We do have pet shops here, called 'Pampered Pet,' LOL, but we also used to use the term, pet, for children we thought were 'teachers pet.' Those were the clever chilren who never did a thing wrong. I just used the expression for something different. Thank your your brilliant review,Yelena I am so pleased your enjoyed it, and thank you so much for the good luck wishes! xsx

I like how you go into this child's background which explains his behavior. This is an excellent entry for the contest, you have a smooth flow of words and lines.

Spoilt kid...pampered pet....is a very simple lovely poem. It rings of truth. Sometimes, what we see is not only nature but also due to unfortunate circumstances. Nice article.

Interesting story line reversal and expertly delivered in verse. I liked your rhyme scheme but your cadence faltered a bit when you turned the table on the ice-cream man.
