Excellent post Nomi. Is this the second Holocaust? Like a black-and-white movie, we watch the hate eating the love for one another. Joined at the hip, brother and sister. Hate has torn us apart. Fear is rampant. The man who has the reins is evil and it is right to be scared. Only God can stop this mellee of hate. K xx

You know the scripture talk about a time when much of what is coming down the pike resembles a time the Bible calls The Great Tribulation, which is followed by the end of our current worldly system of government.

Americans shiver at the thought of Trump taking the reins. He is evil. K xx

We here in America wait with baited breath. We are not timid sheep. If he oversteps to a bizarre level, we will remove him, fear not.

It's not beyond thinking, the third bullet won't miss.

There is lots of hatred and discrimination in this country, and your poem adequately describes the basic problem. One group feels they are better in some way than another group. Or, one group feels another group is going to rob them of some benefit. I especially like the closing message of your poem. With love, blessings and gifts from God await us.

I firmly believe that and I subscribe to the belief that if we do not learn to treat each other as brothers and neighbors, we will pay a severe price.

Bravo to you, and I so wish I still had a six star review to give you, but alas, mine have been used! I hope every single person on FanStory reads your piece and THINKS about their part in discrimination and prejudice, especially the MAGA folks who claim Christianity but sound like eighth-grade bullies. Great work, and I wish you a Happy New Year!

Interesting poem on immigration Nomi. We have several friends who came here legally from other countries and they are more appalled than most at the illegal immigration. I think that is the key for most people. We are and have been a melting pot of the world. That is great but try to go illegally to other countries and you will be in jail or sent home.
Thank you for sharing.
Blessings

It is truly a shame that people are being forced to risk life and limb in order to try and attempt to have a life we all should be entitled to. I pray that the people of this nation never face such a circumstance.

I agree that we are all God's children, and we are ALL made in His image. I have no problem with anybody who comes to the US legally, but as with anything if one breaks the law, then one needs to pay the consequences. Living here in Texas, I feel I have a little different perspective on the issue than others. I have seen many issues firsthand. I taught at a bilingual school and taught ANY child who walked into my classroom, regardless, my job was to teach the child, not judge.

Thank you for your wonderfully balanced consideration of my post. It is my firm belief that the countries these people are fleeing must be held accountable for the conditions that are forcing this massive influx.
-
I agree, but with the people leaving it does nothing to correct the situation. Those countries aren't going to change because people leave.

I really enjoyed your reality check poem Nomi. I think that all hate comes from within the person that hates, usually the person hates something within themselves. A well thought out essay poem.

A beautiful poem that reflects my feelings. I just hope people realize we are all one soul and put every type of discrimination aside. Together we should better this world before we have no world at all.

I thank you for your beautiful expression.

Your poem does a good job of looking at immigration from a philosophical viewpoint. I personally think the hot button aspect is the overwhelming numbers that have been moving in the past four years. I don't think a homogenized population is the goal as much as the numbers are overpowering the resources. I appreciated reading your viewpoint.

The ultimate goal should be doing something about the conditions that are forcing the desperate to risk life and limb to escape conditions that threaten them where they are currently living.

Nomi,
This is an excellent subject that you have approached. There is so much hate in this world and I don't understand it. It doesn't matter what your skin color is as long as you treat me well. Peel the skin and we're all the same.
Well done my friend

Thank you so much. Much has been written about this touchy subject, I was reluctant to post it, but my heart said go ahead and do it, so I did.

You're welcome and I am glad you posted it. Hopefully you don't get any A--holes that post mean things

This is a powerfully worded verse and deservedly so because we know that discrimination is based in hatred. No other word could best suit it because it is the trigger for so much conflict and violence. We live in a small world, a global village, in which the only chance we have to survive as a species is communal love. Sadly, our systems world-wide are not equipped either with expertise or fairness to process correctly the mass influx that hits our shores and the minority bad will often contaminate the worthy applicants in the public view. Thank you, Nomi, for conveying this "hot button issue" in such a compelling and inspiring way. Wishing you all the best for the remainder of the festive season and beyond into 2025. Debbie

The first thing I would say about you if asked, is that you have a wonderful, no masterful way of saying the right thing at just the right time. God bless you my dear friend.
