Well, this makes so much sense, some folks may not like
it. LOL I am already out of sixes or I would give them to you. You have really improved in your writing since your outlook and health has improved as well. Just like, my writing got better when I left the soul sucking soon to be ex. I enjoy reading you. Kudos! Karen

Thanks, Karen, for the virtual six and for telling me you see improvement in my writing. My outlook and health still need improvement, but for the most part, I am satisfied with what I have.
Glad you enjoyed reading this. Thanks for agreeing with the principle of being and having enough.
Happy Thanksgiving!

With all my health issues all my life, I learned to look for little joys. Everyone it seems to want big stuff, big ideas. Not me. I don't need much to be happy. Would I like a place of my own. Sure, But, I do not have to have it to be happy in my life.
Continued good wishes for your recovery. Karen

Thanks, Karen, I appreciate it.
Enjoy the small things in life.

Thought-provoking and well-written. I probably should copy it and put it on my refrigerator. You are so right; we are enough, we have enough, and we need to relax and stop reaching for more. gayla

Excellent philosophy Jesse. My mom, who didn't have much, especially compared to her five sisters always said, we may not have much but..... we have enough.
Thanks for sharing.
Blessings

I agree with your mother. We may not have much but we have enough.
Thanks for the blessings.

Wisdom is sorely needed in a world where we are all programmed to strive for more. "More" may be more than "enough" -- and those who are content with their lot in life are not wrong. They are at peace, and far more likely than the ultra-rich to consider lending a hand to those struggling far more than we are.
So timely as we ponder what to be thankful for and enter the "gift-giving" season. A smile, a pat on the back, the gift of our time... The gifts that cost nothing make others rich!
All those commercials would like us not to embrace your philosophy...
It's all about profit margins to them.
Humanity! Let us focus on that and the world will blossom!

Thank you so much for the six stars and incredible review. Each time you review one of my posts you top yourself with your style and creativity. I look forward to every one of your reviews.
I am hoping to reprogram every one of us to see that what we have is enough. I don't watch television so I don't see the ads but I am sure they wouldn't want folks to embrace this philosophy of having and being enough.
You hit it right on the head of a nail.
Focusing on humanity will bring us joy and peaceful coexistence.
Thanks, my friend.
Happy Thanksgiving!

What a great message! Thanks so much for this poem which is perfect for Thanksgiving. Compared to the majority of the rest of the world, we Americans have more than enough. And in our age-won wisdom, we know we are enough just as we are. Our only debt is to love others just like God said.

Yes, Americans have more than enough in most parts of the country but you would be amazed at how many I know personally who have little to show for how hard they have worked.
The working poor is what I call them.
Yet, compared to the rest of the world we have plenty.
We both make good points.
Thanks, Helen, for calling them as you see them.
Enjoy the holiday season!

You are enough. God shares what He has with us. What He wants us to do is to share this wealth with others. Some do and some don't. God will take care of that in the end. I'm sure He will. Thank you for sharing this post with us.

To whom much is given, much is expected, in the eyes of The Lord. If we have more than others, we can bury it, share it, or use it for the good of man.

We live in a world where people want things that they don't necessary need and this wanting all the time means they are never satisfied with life. I have leaved to appreciate the important things in life, like relationships and good health, I enjoyed your wise words here Jesse, love Dolly x

Another fine write, Jesse....and it seems to me there's an epidemic of greed sweeping the country, that's what has lead to a reprehensible creature like Trump

Comment from Michele Harber
Wow! While I have nothing against striving for more, and wanting to be better than you are, I do agree there's a point where you just have to say "This is as good as it gets." It's like editing a piece of writing over and over. At some point, you just have to say, "I'm done. This is the best I can do." Perhaps others can then come in with suggestions, with a fresh eye, but you, yourself, need to just step away, decide what advice you do and don't want to accept, accept what you choose, then walk away and go onto something else.
As you sum up so beautifully in your last lines, you'll never be truly content until you can say, "I am enough. I have enough. My accomplishments, after I've achieved them, will be enough." That is an excellent philosophy, and one that will give many people satisfaction--and put many therapists out of business!

Thank you, Michele, for your good advice. Choosing who to listen to is hard but necessary in this world where so many disagree with every little thing we write. I choose and then move on.
It makes me happy that you go along with my philosophy where I am enough is plenty. You make me laugh when you say this will put many therapists out of business.
Thanks for your continued support and guidance.
You are a good friend and I appreciate you.
