I always marvel at the grit of true fishermen. The only thing I ever caught while fishing or at least trying to fish. The only thing I ever caught was a cramp or a cold. I have truly never had the experience of catching a fish. I love fish, Cod, Catfish, Salmon, Trout, etc. However, the thrill of catching one has so far eluded me. I have given up trying and I just settle for buying them at the market.

I live Tom's writing. He's very down to earth and I see him as an approachable guy. This was a very nice tribute to him. Hope he enjoys his day and maybe a nice warm wind will blow. Gretchen

Hi Debi,

This is such a lovely and heartfelt birthday poem for Tom Botts. I know that he will enjoy this wonderful tribute to him and his colorful life.
Your poems travels through the life of Tom, and it has good rhyming.

Of special note:
But living close to family, will never become old

(Not unless he buys acres of land in TN or somewhere in the continental USA and moves his entire family onto a compound.)

There's nothing else to say or do, except to wish Tom a very happy birthday, and for him to blow out the candles. Tom, it's time to make a wish. I hope your wish comes true.

Another fun and upbeat birthday poem. Well done. Margaret

My parents traveled Alaska in their TV several times and truly loved the views. I for one hate the cold but I hear summer is the best time to visit. And Tom must have found the perfect spot for salmon fishing and being with his family. What a wonderful birthday tribute. Wishing a HAPPY BIRTHDAY filled with happiness and blessings. Thanks as always Debi for writing such wonderful thoughts and wishes.
Smiles, Carol

Sadly no. I have not seen my son in 29 years or any of his 8 children or 6 grandchildren.
Our family summered Alaska six summers when he was growing up and he loved it. He married his high school sweetheart and after our falling out, he moved there.
My last poem, ?An Aberration? is kind of about that situation.
I write him a letter a month and pray every day but so far, God has not answered that prayer. Or maybe, I just don?t like the answer.
Alaska is a beautiful place and my dream is to go there again someday and see my family there.
Tom is in the Northern part of Alaska and my son is in the southern part of the Kenai Peninsula which is breathtaking.
Take care my friend and keep sharing our FS friends and their stories.

    Blessings
    Janet

I am now praying for you too, Janet. I am so sorry and my heart aches for you.

I wish I could take that pain away from you, Janet. That is hard to see a friend hurting so bad. You are all in my prayers.

Thank you Debi. I have learned over the years to count my blessings and what I do have and not dwell on the things I?ve lost. Most days, it works. But there are days when nothing works to elevate the pain. Those days, I count on my relationship with my Lord and Savior to get me through the day and He is always enough.
My husband is very supportive and I?m very close with daughter and her 3 sons which is a big blessing.
I really appreciate your kindness and your friendship and always your prayers.
Love and blessings to you and yours my friend.
    Janet

A lovely birthday poem for TB's special day. I hope he catches lots of salmon -- that sounds like a fun way to spend a day. Thanks for all the info. you included about Tom's life, especially about his twins born on different dates. Have a blessed week. Carol

Hi Carol, how are you doing, sweetie? Yes, I love that he is a fisherman. We don't have salmon here, but every male and some of the girls also in our family are all fisher-people. A complete favorite pastime.
