Terrible turn of events and miraculous the lad continued on. What a challenge for the two of you, and of course the bureaucrats are never wrong. They'll be judged eventually.

Comment from Pam Lonsdale
He's losing weight, and they put him on a glucose drip for 10 days! It seems everyone in "the world" around him didn't care - what was convenient was what ruled their decisions for care.
Was the cyst found because they were taking so many X-rays?
"There were prepared to kick him out." THEY
Wendy, you did the only thing you could do. It is a sad state of affairs, but when the government has control for anything, caring goes out the window and bureaucracy steps in. Poor Jonathan. Never able to stand up and speak for himself. And after being treated so well by your family and his mother, this must have been so hard for him to understand.
This is such a sad part of what Jonathan and your family had to live with.
Well told, Wendy. I'm anxious to hear what happens next.

Thank you for a very compassionate review, and for your good eyes! How many times did I check that?!
It wasn?t a government controlled place. It was a privately run enterprise, initially set up as a charity, but by then it was very different from the original. They had power because there are very few such places for disabled people. And you are right, Jonathan had no voice at all. Yes, it was a very difficult time for all of us. Thank you again.

Good morning, Wendy,
Absolutely sickening.
I read with disbelief what Jonathan had to endure.
And I read with equal disbelief the horror you and your family had to endure as well.
In fact, I wanted to scream aloud as I read your exceptionally well-crafted narrative.
My heart goes out to you. So much red-tape. So much suffering.
You are one incredibly courageous lady... and so is Jonathan...
Just plain gut-wrenching.
Thank you for sharing!
fondly,
diane

Thank you very much, Diane. I appreciate your very compassionate and understanding review very much, along with the six stars, which are a great encouragement! It was a difficult time.

What a dreadful position to be put in! I hurts to know that they would stoop so low to get what they wanted. They had no love or wish to see Jonathon happy, they just wanted to get their way... an easy way for them. I am so sorry you faced such ignorance.
Hugs, Carol

What a terrible dilemma Wendy and I think you did the right thing in the end. You cannot fight the system, although I do think if Jonathan was able to speak he would rather have died than not have the chance to taste food again. It was his only pleasure. You have shown the system to be very self-serving rather than there for the convenience of the patients. It is a tragic state of affairs, and your hands were tied. This is a heartfelt post and I feel your sense of loss here in this battle Wendy, you were threatened and coerced, it is rather disgusting how you were treated, you were well and truly bullied, love Dolly x x x

Thank you very much, Dolly, for your very kind and compassionate review. Yes, I was put into an impossible situation, but even worse was to come. No easy answers. I appreciate your understanding. Many would say I should just have let it happen earlier, without understanding the significance for Jonathan.

Decisions like the one you had to face are never easy and you will always wonder if you made the right decision.
I feel for you, my friend. You have a big heart and are always looking out for Johnathan and I know he knows you love him.
Eating food was always a delightful experience for him and to take that away sounds awful but the best way to look out for him might be to let the authorities have their way so they can do right by him and you.
