A beautiful poem, Jessica. You mix in how your life goes on without your loved one in it with an expression of how things won't be the same without them. Brilliantly penned. Flawless and smooth.
Take care,
Rhonda

This is a beautiful poem. I enjoyed reading this. Your words show how much you really care for her. This is written well. The picture is beautiful. it fits the poem perfectly. Great job!

This is very beautiful, the last two line "and still I'll love you just the same" are very poignant.
My one suggestion would be in the second stanza and the line the river runs still meet the sea, could be changed to the river runs still to the sea. But apart from that it is lovely.
Having lost friends and loved ones I relate to this poem. Wonderful. well done.

My heart goes out to you, Jess. I imagine that's a pain that will never fully go away. It sounds like you and your sister were very close, and her death affected you deeply. I'm sure there is also the feeling of What more could you have done to prevent it? that lingers in the background.
I think the fact that you write poetry about her is a good, healthy thing to do, and I'm happy for you if it can bring you some measure of relief. - Jim

Thank you so much, MM. You are exactly right. The circumstances surrounding her death will forever be hard to accept.

-Very nice artwork and presentation, Jessica.
-You wrote a very good tribute with beautiful imagery and rhyme
as you think of this person lost to you.
-The opening verses are powerful and show how nature
continues on, but then the waves crash,
"Much like the grief you left in me."
-You follow that with the seasons still changing,
"flower bloom and children grow."
-You go on to say that even with these
natural elements having an impact, your
"heart's still broken, but it beats."
-A very good concluding verse.
-Very well done; thanks for sharing it.

Hi Jessica,
This is a strong ode/lament to show how much grief you have from losing a friend. It is a remembrance of her on her birthday, it seems. from the note, Love and grief are forever. Grief lessens of time.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Have a good rest of the day and week.

There's plenty of emotion here, running just under the surface of this softened language and these poignant, romantic images. The fact that the world seems so able to carry on without someone you love undermines your experience of it. It's like enjoying something on your own that you long to share with them. Complicated emotions, complicated subject matter, and they stand out in even higher relief within this clean cut framework. estory

Thank you for sharing this belated birthday to Kiki who has passed. I know those days are hard. I hope writing this helped heal your heart. I know Kiki read this poem for Heaven and enjoyed reading it.
