So many babies were given up for adoption in years gone by. I'm glad your mum got to meet her baby boy and you your brother. Beautifull and emotional merry-go-round Debi, and thanjs for sharing.
cheers,
valda

Excellent, Debi, as with all your poetry. This is a sad read, but well worth It. Very well written, easy to understand. I didn't even have to use a dictionary. Easy to see why you are #2 on the ranking. Your good friend Willie.

And just so you know, I hope you don't mind if I do a poem for you in December for your birthday. You have always been such a dear friend and I do look forward to it. If it is ok, I will contact you about a week before for just a bit of info.

That is a great story, Debi. There are many young mothers who have given up a child to adoption. It is always great when siblings can get together later in life.

It's amazing to me that a family can have two such beautiful women (you said she looked like you!) when I was given the "left-overs". I am so glad you reconciled to your "new family member". I made every mistake in the book at college and am grateful The Lord rescued me from that terrible life. I had no discipline, and too much freedom. You are fortunate to have had peace with your mother. I had to await to shortly before her death to reconcile with mine.

What a beautiful story in your poem and your notes! That must have been quite a surprise for you and your siblings, to learn that you had another brother. I'm glad you've been able to stay in touch with him. You did a nice job with the single rhyme for each stanza. Blessings and happy Thanksgiving. Carol

Keeping this secret must have eaten away at your mom. I am glad that at least meeting Roger gave her peace before she passed away.
A truly heartwarming and well written story.
Best wishes,
Mary

Hi there Mary, due to having so many at one time, I want you to know I am sorry for the late response.

Yes, my mom said she prayed every night for him and I asked why she thought she didn't think we would understand. I think she just didn't know.

I appreciate the lovely review for my mom's poem and your sweet comments. I thank you so very much, dear friend.

lots to be thankful these days. one of my best friends in high school was a sperm donor for a few years when he was a struggling musician barely making his rent. About ten years ago, his children started contacting him as DNA tests became more widely available and he became close to a number of his children. he said that he has been in touch with at least ten of his children and know that there are more who have not chosen to contact him. So he is now a Dad in his late 60's. LOL.

Wow, Jake, what an amazing story. I knew of guys who did that, but never wanted to know of them after. But I can see why later in life that would be a comfort to them to meet them and know they were ok, but also to see their own child. Cool story, my friend. Thanks also for the awesome comments on mine.

The thing that I know you know for sure is that not all family is found in DNA. Some family is from the heart, the mutual love, respect and desire to please and comfort at times of need or distress. I am fairly certain that you and I do not share DNA, but you are my sister as much as if we were born of the same set of parents. I love you, I always will. There is nothing you can say or do that will ever change that.

Aaawwwee, you know it brother! After all, I talk to you more than I do him and you are real to me in every sense, even if it has to be virtual. And I love you know you always have my back. And I do for you in return.

Thanks so much for the wonderful review, as I never tire of hearing that you are my big brother in every way that counts. Thanks my dear one. Love you!

That is a well written story in a poem, and your notes were helpful. How very difficult for your mother to have to give up her baby for adoption. After all those years it must have been a relief that you would all know and be able to support her and offer understanding. Good too that you have met your half-brother and he is now one of the family. A fine poem.

Thanks so much, Wendy. I appreciate very much your kind review and comments for my mom's story. Since he found us he has had to say goodbye to mom and two brothers, but we have one brother left.

In so many ways, I relate this to the story of Moses. God led him to the Holy Land, but didn't let him enter. My mom was given a couple visits from the son that she ached for so badly. God gave her a glance of what she had missed for those forty years. Anyway, that is how I look at it.
