You are an inspiration with your positive attitude and out look on your situation. It does help for us to be proactive with our health and treatment plans when we need to. I like how you find joy in music, audio books and observing nature outside your window. Excellent writing here that teaches the reader.

Trying to make the best of your situation. What else can you do? Wait for several months for a treatment not gaurenteed to help? Can not fault you for blowing the matter off for what may be a better option. Now, if I could get a handle on my cancer, and quit having tumors, 26 to date, the improvement would be noticeable.

Oh, Jesse, I can certainly understand that your neck comes first. Those pains must be excruciating. It's inconceivable that you would have to wait a live with this until January! I hope your signal surgery will be soon. Ulla:)))

Nicely done.
after Physical therapy helps me to regain my equilibrium to stand proud. - Physical doesn't need capitalized. It would be okay though if you also capitalized Therapy.
I blew out C6. Instant relief when the damaged disc was removed.
Bets wishes.

Wow, Jesse! That's a lot to bear. In a different world (and maybe where I am in the UK) I guess you would not have to wait for such important procedures - but that 'different world' is probably marked 'Private Medicine'. I have (ironically) been 'lucky' to get a triple cardiac bypass at the best hospital in Britain (Bart's) for cardiac procedures, but have three interesting areas of concern right now. The difference is I somehow get to see all the necessary medics in a very short time. Perhaps I am in a much worse place than I realize?
Either way, I found your piece very uplifting - far from 'giving up', you show the right kind of stoicism in the face of so much pain. That takes immense courage. That you can draw so much solace from the natural world, in spite of being in a 5th floor apartment - well, that takes imagination too. Then, you are helping your body with special exercises and your spirits by cheering up those who are probably not in as much trouble as you are yourself. That is admirable, Jesse.
I am proud to have read your story.

Thanks, Paul, for sharing your story of how social medicine works, and from what you have written, it seems to be better than what we have here in America.
Yes, I make the best of a situation. But I wish we had social medicine here as you do in the United Kingdom.
I love living on the fifth floor!
It has the best view in all of Eureka, California!
Thanks for your positive feedback.
Your pride in my story means so much to me!

Thank you, Jesse. Yes, we are proud of our National Health Service, but right now (largely due to Covid) we have 4.6 million waiting for non-emergency surgical procedures - worst its ever been. That they see me almost immediately is quite worrying, ironically!
Best wishes from Paul

I'm sorry to hear that. At least they are seeing you for your needs.
The pandemic hit our country as well.
But, here, they make you pay or wait your turn.

Good luck with all the treatment, Jesse. I hope they help you soon.

Thank you for this update, Jesse! I recall you were going to have knee surgery this month. I had no idea about the neck injury! You are truly a very patient man. You've edited your dreams and make use of this waiting time to reach out with phone calls and letters to encourage others and spend time growing in serenity. That's really beautiful. Saying a prayer that the treatment can be sooner because I'm not as patient as you.

Thanks, Helen, for this positive review.
Thanks for your support and prayers.
Your kindness shows in what you write to me, and I will keep being patient as long as I can.

Heavenly days! Good for you for having such a resilient spirit and positive attitude! That is a definite sign of a strong person.
I wish the best for you and hope that your surgery is successful.
I find that listening to my favorite music is healing too, when I'm tired and achey.
Anyway, keep up the good work. maybe write a story while you're waiting?

Jesse, I'm glad that you are being proactive while waiting on the doctors. The only thing that I wouldn't do is spinal surgery. The reason is simple once it is done there is no turning back. My brother had spinal surgery and he is in pain every day, his feet are turned in and he can barely walk. I hope you thought this out. I know that you have tried many medicines and your neck pain doesn't go away. I fell from the ceiling and almost broke my back and head in November. I was in pain all this year. I stopped in a small place and asked for some over-the-counter pain meds. I was hurting. She gave me a pain med that is for arthritis mixed with a bunch of herbs. It's called UMARY. It cured my inflated joints from my shoulder, neck, and back. Within three days I could move without pain. I gave some to a friend with knee problems and he got better. I don't know if it will work for you, but it's on the internet costs about $28. Take care my friend I'm praying for you.
