Nicely written. Nice story.
Perfectly fits the theme of the contest.
'dad' should be capitalized when used in place of a name.
Best wishes and good luck in the contest.

Such a sad piece of writing. Your father's grief over the loss of your mother was deep and ongoing. You captured this beautifully and meaningfully.
Well done. Best wishes.

This is an interesting view of your father, who sounds more like a teddy bear than a Dragon. Songs can make your heart ache, even years after the loss of that special someone. Your father was very special to hold your mother so long in his heart.

This certainly was sad, your father sounds like he really was sentimental about songs and remembering his deceased wife, it is a shame, she must have passed away young, did he ever remarry?

Mom died at 36, dad was 35, he never remarried or even dated. He lived another 30 years after her death.
Thank you for your review and comments.

Those feelings of loss affect everyone in the family. It's amazing how we attach songs to different moments in our lives and we never hear the same way again. What a wonderfully written story.

Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I can understand how these songs, and especially the special song effected your dad. I'm sure as a young child it affected you too. Good luck with the contest.

This was heartbreaking. Your description of your father went so much further than just physically. I could feel his vulnerability as he sang. You let the reader know this gentle giant who was bigger than life itself. Well done. Good luck in the contest. Gretchen

Wow, this reads like a winner to me. I love this story, and I'm sad that your dad missed your mom so much that only sad songs could relieve his pain. If that's his picture, he wasn't a bad-looking dud.

I like your story a lot it is filled with wonderful memories of your dad and gives the reader a chance to feel like we are sitting and having a beer with him.
I have one suggestion, I think you may need to clearly say "That Special Song" is "My Heart Cries for You." I would not want the judges to disqualify you on a technicality. By the way, I remember Guy Mitchell had a hit with the song and Dean Martin sang it, I don't remember Eddie; he may have I just don't remember.

Thank you for entering the contest. A well-written story. Terry.
