Beautiful haiku! I love the thought of the metamorphosis taking place here. Six legs, no longer needed, replaced by wings. Superb. Best wishes for your entry.

Wendy, thank you! thank you! Just as our subjective humanness is in transition from birth to death, nature shows us the beauty and mystery of life.
Comment from Dolly'sPoems
You described the transition here perfectly as this butterfly performs another miracle in life and it is always fascinating to see this happening, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

This is a great contest entry that I hope does well. By definition you successfully composed a haiku, that is well written and composed.
Have you written in this style before? Or do you write in a variety of styles? I have not tried to write a haiku, maybe one day. Thanks for sharing and keep writing.

K.L. thank you for the validation. I had only attempted Haiku a handful of times, but I try to make a run at all poetic styles for the opportunity to explore that breadth and depth of writing. I feel my strongest poetic voice is in free verse.
Comment from Bridge
A lovely poem. The artwork is perfect for the poem. Very well written. You have done full justice to the prompt. All the best to you in the contest.
With regards

I don't write good haiku, but I know good ones when I see them. This one is excellent, a charming description of the stages of growth that lead to the emergence of those lovely butterflies.

This is wonderful! I'm loving the mental image in my mind! (The picture only adds to that) Really a nice job writing this. Haiku's can be quite tricky.

JLR,
Love the simple words. love the simple picture that speaks a thousand words ( in only 6). love the brilliance of nature. And this a symbol of our own metamorphosis. Humbling, mysterious, brilliant. Fly high, butterfly!

This is very clever and very effective. There is no growth without transformation. On six feet or taking wing, this metamorphosis is the miracle of life and faith and beauty! What a lovely haiku you've graced us with!

Karenina, I am grateful for your supportive review. I have only written a handful of Hauiku over the three years I have been a member. For me this is a reflection of the transformation of our subjective humaness from birth to death, through the witnessing of natures constant metamorphus that surrounds our daily lifes.

That came through, with finesse!

Love the message of the metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly. It's probably a picture of the change from life on Earth to new bodies in Heaven. Best wishes in the contest!

When one considers what happens to a butterfly before it becomes a full fledged butterfly, it goes through the process of metamorphosis, what a miracle that God would reveal Himself this way. Beautifully written Jim, , blessings Roy
