Of all the scripts I've read on here, this is one of my favorites. I love the way you've set it up so we get a full picture of what's going on, and I was thinking this long before I read your apology/non apology in the authors notes. You set a stage I could easily follow.

As for the content, you are giving us a great look into the mind of an autistic child, one who is beginning to find his way into the general population.

A brave adventure, my friend.

Take care,
Rhonda

You are so sweet, Rhonda. Thank you so much for your kind words. You give me the courage to go on with it when I have no idea what Cornelius is going to do next. I need to learn to outline, LOL. Thanks for the lovely chartreuse cross.

I would be out of my mind if I gave this part less than a six, Jay, and totally unjust. You wrote Cornelius's part so believably, I wanted to get inside the page and wring that James's rotten neck! I thought Jennie was sweet, she didn't like what the bullies were doing to him. Cililla is also believable, these children always have that secret invisible friend who care for them. Very well done, my friend. Exceptional writing. :)) Sandra xx

Sorry I'm late reviewing, Jay. We are moving home. Not a job for the feint hearted. ( or the elderly!!)

Bless you, Sandra! You've always been here for me. And now with a six! I tried my hardest to reserve a six for your novel this week. It's almost always an automatic candidate for one, but if you post it during the rest of the week, all you'd get is my praise. So wait until next Sunday. If you're moving home, where were you? On holiday?

An interesting story about Cornelius with his imaginary friend and of course we have a group of students who follow the bullie's lead in a cowardly attack on a student for no apparent reason except he wants to feel powerful! Looking forward to the next scene, Jay!

And you shouldn't apologize. This is a well written script in my opinion. One that kept my attention throughout while I also felt the emotions you portrayed. I was bullied something awful as a child because I was so tiny for my age. I could just see James swaggering his way into the building. At least, he'll have Cililla to pick him up, and Jennie appears to have a crush on him.

Yes, things will soon start heating up, Yvonne, in a number of different ways. Thanks for reading and for your usual kind remarks.

You've given us some new direction with this scene, Jay, and it gives hope for some happiness for Cornelius. But it also conveys, through Cililla, that the coming changes will be difficult for him to navigate. I love the ending. It seemed to be a moment of peace for both Cornelius and Jennie. Well done.

Yes, I'm sure directors would throw fits with all the directions. But, I'm with you that since we are trying to shoot the scenes and merely reading them, the details are definitely a plus. At least for me, which is what matters most, to me. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, you got the idea, Ric. The play is on the screen of our imagination (or stage, if you will). I'm happy you are enjoying it.

I'm amazed at how you get into Cornelius' mind. Autistic children totally fascinate me. I usually have at least one in my classroom each year. Last year I had two. This year only one. Thank you for sharing.

I honestly think I was not autistic, but was on the spectrum, perhaps very mild Asperger's syndrome, and I know my son was more solidly in the syndrome. He spent days at a time on his Sit 'n Spin going in a circle until he broke the machine. Elementary school teachers complained that when the class would read silently to themselves, he would get so involved that he would act out his book until the teachers had to remove him from the room to read by himself in the hallway. He apparently outgrew it. He now has a degree in Philosophy.

I am fascinated with Autism. I am pretty sure my husband is on the spectrum. While in college, I did a research paper on it. So much has changed in research since the 70"s

Well, you are doing a very good job of writing your script for the readers enjoyment. I guess, then, that I should not mimic your style if I write a script? Damn! I thought I had a model to follow here. Anyway, I love this script. I love the characters. And, I love all your stage direction. Enough said. Thanks for sharing.

Ah, Leann, you know how to encourage a writer. Thank you so much for that. Next scene should start heating up a bit.

Well well well lookie here!! The unflappable Mr. Squires doing a screenplay and from what I see here, a brilliant one too!

I really love what I read! I felt several emotions which is exactly what authors hope for. Anger, pity and sympathy registered in this scene.

Well done my friend!

Hi Jay, I'm glad I have a six for you, which is very well deserved. Your gentle portrait of Cornelius is outstanding. It's a joy to read. You really show his incomprehension. I admit I don't know a lot about autism. All best, Ulla:)))
Ps. I know it's none of my business, but I would report the reviewer who gave you 3 stars. His kind doesn't belong on this site. Just my opinion.

Bless you, Ulla, for the sixer and for your kind words. The naysayer apparently withdrew his review. It's not here. But I'm sure happy you are with your review!
