Thank you very much for your graciously excellent review, especially considering that you're a Chiefs fan. Yes, even Jorge was surprised that they didn't score better. I guess even champions can have a bad day, and unfortunately for them, it was on Super Bowl Sunday.
Yes, it was sweet to share the moment. May God bless you and your family, and best wishes for next season! - Mary Kay

Loved your recap of the big game, Mary Kay!! It sounds like Jorge takes these games very seriously. My hubby was rooting for "not Brady" so he was not as enthused. Lol. So glad you enjoyed the time together. Well done story poem!!

Thanks Helen, for your great review. Yes, it was a sweet time together. I think last year, I napped through some of it, but this year, for some reason, I was feeling very supportive. Yes, at first Jorge was also "not Brady," but once he changed his mind, he was all in. With sportsmanship all considered, it really is more fun, when your chosen team is winning. It's a lot more straightforward, when the team is from your own state... I think we had a "subway series" not too long ago in baseball, and I have always been a Mets fan, and he's a devoted Yankee fan, so that was interesting.
He does take sports very seriously, and sometimes it can even be funny. We have a local restaurant we would visit a lot before the Covid restrictions, and one of the waiters was a Red Sox fan. He would just tease the guy, without mercy. Fortunately the waiter never took it to heart. I think if he had, Jorge wouldn't have done it.
I wasn't sure if I should post a poem about sports, but since it inspired me, I felt it was worth doing... especially for the togetherness part. Jorge really loved it :-D
Thanks for reading!
Love, Mary Kay xoxo

I'm so glad you did. It's an important part of Americana. My husband is a Mets fan because he's anti-Yankee. Lol. His childhood was in NY.
-
Yes, it really is. Wow, your husband grew up in NY! How sweet. It really is an interesting place and has its share of nostalgia. I never left! My husband is from Colombia, but he came here as a baby, so when I first met him in church (we were in our twenties), I couldn't tell where he was from. I sometimes wish I would have married him then, but it wasn't meant to be. The Lord must have known that we weren't ready. So it was a looooooong friendship! Praise God.
-
How interesting! I hope you will share about how you and Jorge met. I know nothing about Colombia!
-
Thank you for asking, Helen. We certainly didn't meet in Colombia ;-)
I actually did write a story about it over a year ago, but I used his name as we pronounce it (George), not as we spell it (Jorge), and I knew very few people on FanStory then.
It can be found here:
https://www.fanstory.com/listbookcomments.jsp?storyid=962346&novelid=null&page=2
But I'm wondering if maybe I should revive it? Can you revive a post after a year, or does it have to be two years? Or maybe we can just promote it again, anytime we want to. It only got 10 reviews, but I probably didn't know enough to promote it very well. I think it was only my first or second month in FanStory.
I'm going to look into what's necessary to revive a post, and find out if it's eligible -- or maybe you know the answer? Hugs! - Mary Kay
-
I hope you repromote it. I don't know what the 2 year limit is about. Maybe if it's repromoted after two years, the notification is sent but if it's newer, then not?
-
Thank you for your encouragement, Helen. I think I'll ask Tom, because I looked all through the FanStory Q&A, and couldn't find the answer that way. I'm almost sure I saw it somewhere, but can't remember where, so it's better just to ask.

It sound like the two of you had a great time together. My husband wasn't ever much of a spectator sports fan so I've never watched a super bowl. Reading you delightful poem, I got the feeling I saw it through your eyes and I wondered if maybe I've been missing out. Nicely written poem.

Thank you so much, dear Beth, for the wonderful review and the six shining stars! If you missed out on watching super bowls, you didn't miss out on much else, my friend. I think your husband was too busy supporting your family and helping to raise your kids, to spend much time watching sports! But I'm happy if my poem gave you an idea of what it was like, to watch it. God bless you and your family!
Love, Mary Kay xoxo

I'm not that fond of American football, it's a little like rugby, except with knickerbockers and armour. I'm not that fond of rugby either. I much prefer our Australian oval shaped ball game. But a marvellous record by Tom Brady, (he must have done well with the girls in college) Beautifully written Mary Kay, my admiration fo a great post, well done, blessings Roy

Thank you very much for your excellent review, Roy. I'm not much of a sports enthusiast, generally, but my husband is a different story! He can strike up a conversation just about anywhere, with almost any man, and bond over sports -- it took me awhile to grow accustomed to it, but I've learned to appreciate that part of his character, which has so many other aspects as well. He enjoyed having my company, watching the game, and I found his antics entertaining. I am so blessed to have him in my life, a godly man who loves me -- I wish everyone could be so blessed.
God bless you too, and your family. Stay safe, in this crazy world!

I watched the Super Bowl, for the first time, this year. No one was with me. Bless you, that you have your husband at your side. The poem you wrote was good to read and enjoy. It was a well-earned win.
Good luck in the contest Mary Kay.

As he soaked in all he wanted to see.
We were grateful for all the fun that night,
But being together, that was our delight.'

Thank you, Ralf, for your excellent and kind review, and for the five stars. I'm sorry that you watched the Super Bowl alone, but I hope you enjoyed it anyway, and I'm glad you enjoyed my poem. May God bless you and your family.

Thank you so much for your beautiful and very personal, six-star review, Cookie. Yes, generally speaking, I'm not into football either, but I did it for Jorge. Cookie, I'm sorry you lost your husband and especially a daughter. Parents shouldn't have to outlive their children, but there it is, my mother outlived my brother, also. Yes, your love and your daughter are in Heaven, enjoying themselves with the Lord Jesus. He has untold delights prepared for His children. Again, thank you for such a wonderful review and also for noticing the artwork, much appreciated, my friend. May God bless you and your family. Love, Mary Kay xoxo

I'm so glad you had a stellar evening with Jorge at your side. Chips, dip and shared controller. This, my friend, is romantic!!
I had my head buried in a WW2 history book and two of my men here; Robert in North Carolina on speaker phone. He has COVID, but wasn't daunted in the least. He is our youngest and biggest Super Bowl fan. (He's a wealth of football information.) Our Governor bet the Governor of Missouri a seafood platter that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would win! He's a true Floridian!
I enjoyed this so much. I'm delighted to read about your Super Day! Sending you my best, and blessings always,

Thank you, dear Sally, for your beautiful review of my poem. It was indeed a special night, and you are right, it was romantic. Obviously your governor won the bet with the governor of Missouri, and I should have known that as with anything Southern, there would be food involved, lol.
I'm sorry that your Robert has Covid, but happy that he was well enough to fully enjoy the game, and I wish him a full recovery (which I pray God will give him soon).
Thank you so much for reviewing!
Love, prayers and hugs,
Mary Kay xoxo

I'm so glad that you have had fun watching the Super Bowl with your husband. It is the most important. You did a good job with rhyming scheme and they seemed natural and flowed well.
I have one question: does "history" rhyme with "MVP", a near rhyme?
Otherwise you did an exceptional job.

Thank you, dear Lisa, for your sweet and exceptional review of my poem. I was a little hesitant, because sports fanatics don't always have a lot in common with the more cerebral breed that writers are, but it's a part of life, and it was meaningful to me for a special night, so I went ahead with it.
Yes, I do believe "history" rhymes with "MVP," pronounced phonetically, I suppose you could call it, "em-vee-pee"/"his-tor-ee."
It was certainly a lot of fun for both of us, although for me, it was equally enjoyable to enjoy observing both the game, and his reactions to it.
My husband is ordinarily a very funny person, and in the case of watching the football game, he was not actually trying to be funny, but maybe that made it even funnier. And nearly getting my feet squashed when he threw his body around, now that was quite an experience, but after the moment of danger was past, I thought it was very funny.
Thank you so much, Lisa! God bless you and your family.
Love, Mary Kay xoxo

I'm not a big fan of football, but this is a super cute poem. This part had me laughing, because I can relate:
Though not a Tom Brady fan in the past,
He made peace with it now, at long last.
He screamed and hollered what he had to say,
And thrashed about, with me in the way.
Kansas City is my home town, so I know a lot of folks who are nursing some wounds this morning.

Thank you so much, Erika, for your beautiful review. Yes, there was a humorous aspect to it, because he became almost wild, in his enthusiasm, and I had to get out of his way! It really was funny.
Oh, I can imagine that there were some very disappointed people in Kansas City. But the nice thing about sports, is that there's always another season, and maybe the next one will be better, as we hope and pray for an end to Covid-19 in our world. Stay safe, my friend, and may God bless you and your loved ones.
Love, Mary Kay xoxo

Thank you so much, Liz, for great review. Yes, we were both entertained for sure, and I was extra-entertained by Jorge.
Wow! Your daughter met Brady's wife? I read somewhere that she's a model (not surprising). His ex-girlfriend (mother of his oldest son) is the Assistant DA on Bluebloods. I never would have made that "love connection." But apparently, famous people hang out together. God bless you, Liz :-)

She is indeed a model--Giselle Bundchen.

Thanks for that :-)
