Comment from His Grayness
WOW ! I certainly can relate to this message of great sadness and disappointment. Our world is indeed in deep trouble and it is time for our elected (and well paid) politicians to start concentrating on what's truly GOOD for America, instead of what kind of power leveraging they can use to hurt others they disagree with and how to leverage their political privileges into cash in their bank accounts! Good job here and hopefully will wake up some of the stupid democrats who cannot seem to see what their party is doing to our nation! HIS GRAYNESS: Vance

As much as I want things to go back to the way it was, I know that won't happen. Your poem touched me deeply and brought tears to my eyes. So many of us remember to 'good old days' when we could walk to the story at night, leave our doors unlocked, and our children could walk to school with friends... A time when teenagers could go to a concert without going to Heaven... yes, those times have vanished. What saddens me so much is that too many do not remember those days. I fear they have truly vanished.

This is so true Dawn, the world has become a dangerous place and all because of a handful of terrorists. You never know when they will strike next. Should you allow your child to go to a concert? Should you take a walk? Good Job. Nancy

That is why you are who you are. You took the trials of today and expertly put them together in a very wonderfully expressed piece. I tried to find the one part that touched me and I believe it was 'teenagers could go to a concert without going to Heaven.'

A very well-written heartfelt poem. It is times we will never get back. The world and the morals of society have changed a lot. Unfortunately, we that grow up in that era are the only ones who can see the difference.

A beautiful commentary on the sad state of it. The I has been taken from us in order to please the we. But I find that insistence on a group-think-borderless-accepting-of-everything-blaming-everyone-else world has created more selfishness than ever before. I too would love to return to the world of neighbors, Face-to-face friends, not just Facebook ones, responsibility, and respect for others who have earned it, not blindly bestowed. The writing you have done should bring everyone to begin thinking about that part of self that cannot and should not belong to the whole. You can't throw everyone into a blender and not expect them to come out mangled. Thank you for stating my thoughts so eloquently - whether you meant to or not ;) - Wendy

Comment from Margaret Snowdon
This brings to mind just how times have changed, Dawn --
and I've so often said to my husband - it's not for the better -
People seem less caring - no manners or consideration -
and one is afraid to let our children go out and enjoy themselves
for fear something horrendous will happen to them.
I wouldn't lend it.
Not even for a moment.- might I suggest you make this a run-on sentence, Dawn:
I wouldn't lend it,
not even for a moment.
Blessings,
Margaret

Comment from Mitchell Brontė
This was such a poignant poem that journeys through the landmine that life has become,
I wake this morning after another terrible attack on innocent people in my country and reading your words reminds me of how uncomplicated life was, so brilliantly described within your lines.
This free verse is heartfelt, emotional and powerful in it's simplicity capped by what I can only describe as a sublime climax that stopped my heart......I vanished.
Tremendous poem.
