As I read, I was wondering how you would be able to resolve the story in only 99 words. The empty oregano jar did the trick magnificently. The last sentence is subtle, clever, and makes you cheer for Joey in spite of his deceptiveness. Very nice.

Ha! Forty bucks is pretty good for oregano. Joey got the last laugh...unless they come after him. You did a good job with this drabble flash fiction.

Good to see herbs of a different kind hitting the market. I daresay that Joey might need to keep his head down for a while though. I enjoyed the situation comedy here!

A very good contest entry. It reminds me of a radio personality who did a live, call-in show out of Tampa. One morning someone called in and said. Ron, I'm glad to see you moving up in the world. I remember hanging around with you when you were selling oregano to blacks and telling them it was pot.
The next day Ron was working somewhere else.
