Very funny. Well written, engaging throughout. I love the idea of you rocking to Staying Alive with a roadrunner in your lap. Nice details. Wish you had more dialog to break up the blocks of text, that's my only "complaint," if I have to call it that. Great to illustrate with your own photo. I will not play The Carpenters because I do not want a music worm! Excellent job.

Thank you, cterp, for your RR&R and suggestion calling for more dialogue. I will keep that in mind for future writing. To be honest, it was 38 years ago and I can hardly remember dialogue from yesterday!!

Your stories contain a lot of humor and this one is no exception. Honeymoons tend to hold a few surprises but yours held more than the majority. Congratulations on all those years of marriage.

Hello, there,
I enjoyed your story. I think it's very funny, it made me laugh and laughter is so good for the soul. I like that is a happy tale and especially that you two stayed together.
Good job!

Thank you, Barb, for the wonderful review and fabulous SIX! You made my evening, especially on the heels of the three I received this morning on this! :/ I very much appreciate your continued follow and support. Have a great evening :)

I know what you mean and they usually just don't give a reason and you never hear from them again. My last three was because the person hated me using sabitical.lol

This is scary. I would take what happened as bad omens too. HELP on his shoes--an obvious prank by his friends. :-)
But a funeral following the wedding! Talk about timing. Not a good idea to bring a baby to the reception--Don't Vomit on my Parade. LOL
How tender that you took care of the roadrunner.
If the two of you could get through all this, it's a natural you would stay together.
A delightful read, Mary.

Haha, it is, isn't it?? I have my doubts on the shoes...but because they were rentals that came with the tux, and the guys were all so adamant...I actually found it pretty funny at the time, and even more so years later...Thank you, Shari, for another wonderful review and fabulous SIX! You made my evening, especially on the heels of the three I received this morning on this! :/ I very much appreciate your continued follow and support. Have a great evening :)

I think between the HE-LP and 'Roady', your marriage was thus blessed. Did your husband ever admit that he could never have left, for fear of missing another adventure with you? Such a funny and great read.

I'm guessing the stars didn't align that day but it seems all has turned out great. I just love your stories. Need to make a book of these and get them published. The golf story and the bird did you think of sending it to a golfers magazine? Great job.Mary

Thank you so much for your RR&R and words of encouragement. I had not considered submitting it to a golf magazine, I should check into that...My long term plan is to consolidate and self-publish. Joining FanStory was to prove to myself enough people liked my stuff and woukd consider buying a book. Thank you for building my confidence! Have a great evening!!

Good story telling. Long, but very easy to read and follow. I had to think back when I had a 1970 Firebird. It was the car of my lifetime. Now I have a mazda3 and on my 3rd marriage. Good going on your marriage of 38 years..wow. dustybones

Thank you, Dustybones, for your RR&R :) It's good that we've all had that "one" car to reminisce about, while the cars of our old age keep us humble and grounded! I appreciate you hanging in for the longer read! Thank you! :)
Comment from LIJ Red
Wild, chatty, rambling, yet descriptive and entertaining. Not a bad account of Only Just Beginning. I breezed through and didn't trip on anything, so,
excellent.

Thank you so very much, Barbara, for your fabulous RR&R. I have been surprised by some of the responses, like yours, because I didn't feel I had done as good a job in writing this as some of my other work. I loved reading your comments, and especially love the assignment of a SIX to it. Thank you and have a fabulous Monday, you sure made mine!
