Loos like Wally weasel is faced with a blank canvas syndrome that a lot of us writers are faced with way to often. A very fun poem as always.

These are such delightful little characters and fun reads that make them seem to have the sweetest little souls. Wally Weasel sounds like the kind of chap that Alice may have run into while exploring Wonderland. Excellent rhyming qualities, image choice and background color.

Hi DaMommy,
I love reading your poems about Wally and he is so smart writing poem since he's a weasel. (Hope that's spilled right or he might get mad at me and not let me read anymore of his work.) So if he starts to complain just tell him I'm an old lady and getting more forgetful every day. . . which is true.

Then, we're two of a kind. I spend the majority of my day looking for something or trying to remember something.
No, he wouldn't be mad. I wanted to give people of more positive image of a weasel.
Thank you. You always make me feel so good. 8-)

I'm probably a lot older than you are. On April 29th I'll turn 79 years old. Whew!
I'm happy to hear Wally isn't mad at me.

Of course, he isn't.
No, you're not. I'll be 73 in Sept.

I'm still six years + your age. LOL

Your Wally Weasel is a bit more cute and loveable than my Cheezel the Weasel, who's really rather a rascal. However, the story is told with a slightly understated sense of humour, and the meter and rhyme are both excellent, making it a pleasure to read.
Keep it up - I think Cheezel is up to Chapter 5!

Thank you for your kind comments. I'll have to visit Cheezel. 8-)

Cheezel is definitely a naughty boy. I chose a weasel because I thought the likelihood of someone else writing about weasels was zero. Well, great minds, as they say.
I like your Cheezel very much. I had a hard time finding him, sorting through your many works. Later, I'd like to take more time to stop and read. 8-)

Yvonne,
This is really sweet! You did a good job of putting that blank canvas on the easel
too. I can relate to his lack of inspiration and being vexed...I was concerned about
him in the beginning. I like how he searched and searched and kept a good attitude. Then at last he found inspiration.
Loved these lines:
"Just wanting happy colors, he threw all the rest away,
Like black and brown and darkest blue, and all the shades of gray"
I like that idea. I also like how you leave the reader in suspense and
anticipating the next chapter.
Very fun!

I was working on a piece to put Wally to rest, but I keep getting requests for more Wally. I'm happy. I was afraid he was getting boring. 8-)
Thanks for a lovely review. 8-)

He's never boring...I'm happy you have a Wally following. They (poems) are coming fast too.

In my opinion, a delightfully engaging work - not just a story to read to children, but to also introduce them to another art form, painting. Although the rhyme was uneven in spots, which is easily remedied by reading the poem aloud several times, I really do not think children will notice. I believe they will happily enjoy the story.

Thank you. I think the bumpy places turn out okay if you read it in the right rhythm. (Does that make sense?)
I may to look at it again, but I read it several times before I posted it. Of course, I heard what I expected to hear. LOL
Thanks again for reading and reviewing my work. I do appreciate it. 8-)

As I said, children will probably not notice, but how can you expect readers to read it "in the right rhythm." They only know how to read rhyme in the way it's presented. Think about how your rhyming sounds when compared to other children's verses, for example, "Twinkle, twinkle little star," and so very many others, How about "Twas the night before Christmas." Your explanation is unrealistic - sorry...

This appealing Wally Weasel tale just gladdens the heart and lifts the spirit - I simply got caught up in the endeavours but best of all i love the fact that we are exhorted to 'leave him alone and come back soon'- room for our imagination !
