"Once unleashed, lies stick like glue"--no truer words were ever written than these. This is a very enjoyable piece of satire. Your meter and rhyme propel is right along to that killer last stanza. After online sources gained such widespread use, it quickly became more hassle than reward to try to help students learn to use and document sources in their papers.

If net research you would believe
I would here wish you God speedya
Much of the net would you deceive
Especially Wikipedia
Treat with a pinch of salt the stuff
On the net for oft that information's
False and you'd be better off
With a dictionary of quotations
That's why we're here unpublished poets
On the web write a load of shit
Until it's bound in paperback
No one believes a word of it.
Yours is the better poem by far but it revved me up and got me going!

This is a fun and delightful to read and to ponder on. Very good satirical lines to think and elaborate. Well written and deep to the pore. Keep on writing and welcome to fanstory.

LOL - this starts out with a brilliant bang! No, I don't need your source, I'll take your word, hahahaha.
You've explored the pitfalls of the internet with such wit and humor. The scary thing is all the young people really believing what they read on the net. Lou

Hahaha! By George, I think he's got it!
How many times have we all heard someone say, "Well, it must be true. I saw it on the internet.", I ask you, Craig? Hundreds? Maybe more??
The world wide web, like mass media on television, convinces the unsuspecting viewing (and surfing) populous to buy into some pretty whacked-out schemes and scenarios. The sad part is that no matter how imbecilic, moronic, or ridiculous it sounds, we often times still do.
The cadence, rhyme and rhythm were superb in this scathing satirical verse, Craig.
Bravo! ~Dean :)

Comment from Linda Kay
Ah, a tale for our times! (And what strange times we live in indeed?). I liked the wry humor, and the truth here "lies stick like glue" and especially the last verse 'cause that's the way it is now.

I love, love, love!!! Did I mention I love this poem? ;) The rhyme scheme is exceptional and the humour is off the charts! Of course, the rumours will run rampant about Mahatma G. eating beef and Abraham L. secretly flying the Confederate flag, but that can't be helped, now can it? ;) Where do you get your inspiration? Keep up the exceptional work!

Wow, thank you Kim, for your exceptional review! I can't take that much credit -- there's no shortage whatsoever of inspiration. Often people don't get my stuff for some reason, but you've clearly picked up on it in this case with no trouble - and for that I'm very grateful :)
Craig.

Always a pleasure - Craig.
