Your mother was a very wise person. In America you could be whatever you want to be. This is a land of opportunity If you have the will to succeed you can. Very good theme used for the hundred word story. What a great story it is!

You are keeping my attention...next to last sentence do you mean to say "best pant antler" instead of just "pant antler"? Certainly, this story makes me crack a smile!

Thanks for reviewing, Meg. No, I think without 'best' seems good there. Happy day. Bill

This little tidbit puts you right into the thick of an atmosphere, I am truly impressed that you expressed so much in 100 words. Well done.

Hah-hah! Well, Bill, the kid's ma was right. We can pretty much be whatever we set our minds to be. But we gotta start young to get 'er done, I'm afraid. Well, for the most part anyhow.

I've often thought about pan handling myself, Bill. I'm pretty sure it has to be far more lucrative than Social Security/Disability. Now the numero uno Pan Handler himself is threatening to cut that off as well, if the debt ceiling isn't raised. How 'bout they cut some of those lofty salaries in Congress and the Senate? They don't do nothin' anyway.

Heh-heh... ~Dean

Thank you, Dean, for reviewing this. We've a family of panhandlers on the on-ramp that rotate from two other spots and exchange signs, turn one leg inward to feign an injury, and carry a lunch. Think I'll rob a bank to get ahead. These people don't seem to ever get caught. The guv'mint is a wash altogether.

There was a story here in Cincinnati where a guy would park his Mercedes in a store parking lot, go into their head and change into raggedy clothes, then hit the streets panhandling. The sad thing is that even after the guy was exposed on the evening news, he's still doing it today.

    Stupid is as stupid does...
