Hello again, my prolific friend! I appreciate being put to shame by the tiny hummingbird! I enjoyed your bits of alliteration in the opening stanza and poetic comparisons throughout your free verse. Cheers- Joan

First off, Jimi,
This is so heart-touchingly moving and awe-inspiring to the empathetically compassionate spirit that breathes and thrives within my every fiber ... ohhh, the tribulations of a wee warbler and its incomparably "Herculean courage".
Amazingly inspiring to overcome my own life's meager challenges (in comparison), to say the least!
And me? HAH! I'm a laugh.
What a monumentally gorgeous, powerful, and impacting work that has poured forth from your tender pen, Jimi ... whew! You swept me away with the picture and music choices, appealing layout, and beautifully flowing Free Verse in metaphorical wonder, and I love how you emphasized ~~~~~~~Imagine~~~~~~~.

I wish I could gift 12-Stars for this one, Dear Jimi ... thank you! ~ Richard : )

Good comparison or should I say there is no comparison between birds that migrate. They just do it. People on the other hand think to much and most time don't do what has to be done. I know hummingbirds fly distances, they grace me with their beauty on their way south. This is very good and I thank you for sharing this information. I shall try to do. :)

Love this one, Jimi, especially that description, "this minuscle wisp of Herculean courage". What a fine example these small birds are to us wavering and hesitant humans - an inspiration to go for the seemingly impossible.

The facts in this always escape the scale of my own logic and belief. So does my own personal existence and knowledge of truth and consequences. I wonder how I, a product of nature, can have an intuitive comprehension of truth such that I can know that truth cannot be false, but present evidence that it is false or impossible. How can an organism or even a fragment of an organism carry the message of truth and consequences into the processes of biological evolution and the evolution of human knowledge with a concept of an overriding power greater than evolution or the processes of selection and preference? TRUTH is God. Note that God is capitalized but the rest is lower case, while the entire TRUTH is capitalized. It is the only way in language that the hierarchy of TRUTH over fact can be expressed or explained. The lower case god can be dual or plural, but The God is definite and god is indefinite. The Truth is definite, while truth is indefinite. What about Truth? I love your proem (prose poem).

And the answer to the questions is...

I think my way out of it.

Wonderful metaphor, especially when you mention the minimal weight and lack of forethought, just a compass pointed south.

This really is memorable, an excellent metaphor with great impact.

Dallas, I lived in Dallas for 22 years.. between Houston and Dallas mostly. However, next month I am moving to Louisiana to be closer to my adult children and grandchildren.

Its the same reason I live in Cambridge. I moved for the kids and commuted 200miles per day back into the city for several years while still working.

Beautiful, Jimi! You know I love birds -- in a 'former' life, I raised them - exotic finches; many varieties. Birds are truly amazing creatures - things of beauty - and the inspiration for man to invent a flying machine.

This is a wonderfully constructed free-verse poem. (Wish I could do this; ah well, perhaps in the future.) "wisp of courage" is definitely my favorite image - absolutely lovely. I like the ending - "and you?" - as a final challenge to overcome whatever is holding any of us back.

Very well done. I heard what you are saying!

Nature has a way of puting me to shame when I line up my "abilities" to certain objects or creatures in creation. But just about the time when I start to feeling pretty down on myself....I remind myself that at the very least....I have my powers of Reason. I am not ruled by instinct.....thankfully ( because my instincts are often WRONG!! ) Nice job....as always Jimi!!

This bird has determination and is not afraid of failure like we humans do. This reminds me of" Over the Rainbow": If little birds can fly over the rainbow, why then oh why can't I? Most people do not try to be the best they can be because they lack courage. Good message in your poem.
