Wow...powerful message. The rapidity of your rhymes is what drives this poem. "Stands to reason
Escape is treason
Must live a season
Before checking out"

Fantastic word choice and continuity. I really enjoyed reading this work.

Your poem is so sad but true.
You captured my attention from the start.
It's seem that the numbers have increase since the youth are so into drugs.
Thank you for sharing

I might change the first lines to something like
Vanishing point ahead
Blank perspective full of dread
because of the similarity of head and ahead
but I do weird things at times
excellent poem

Hi Carolyn,

I really liked your poem for the contest. You did a great job like you usually do. I enjoyed reading it and also your author notes. It is so sad that anyone would commit suicide.

Hi, Carolyn,

A very powerfully poignant entry for the contest, Carolyn. Suicide rates are indeed on the rise, but given the state of the world today should that come as a shock to anyone? However, your caring and carefully chosen words well well thought out and convey you message clearly.

This picture is perfect to take many different ways for a story. I have seen the same photo used for many different posts here as of late.

Good job with this one. The best of luck in the contest. ~Dean

It is amazing, and so sad.. if only they were capable of seeing that there is a future, I guess young minds simply don't have the maturity to do that.. I feel this is an excellent entry.. the content is so strong and emotional.. good luck to you in this contest..

This is a great poem by the author and the theme is an admirable one. I had a cousin and a best friend who committed suicide. This is a terrible thing and their parents will never forget it.

I think your poem tells a truthful tale of how life really is for the majority of us. Things are constantly happening and changing. Sometimes we feel overrun but we need to stay a while longer. With family breakdown, and parents who set poor examples, it is no wonder some kids feel worthless. Children are God's gift to people, and they need to be treasured, nurtured, prayed for and guided. They need a strong sturdy foundation for a bright future.

I appreciate the good luck. I am never sure what the 'committee' views as a good entry, but this one flowed in this manner in about 5 minutes, hopefully it will be noted as having some value. The picture certainly was the perfect prompt.
Hope you are having a great day,
    :-) Carolyn

In the past year I know of 2 young people 30 and 25 who took their own lives. One a girl, 25 shot herself in the head and the young man 30 hung himself. It breaks my heart that these things are happening. Patricia

It is so tragic, there was literally a rash of suicides in a high school not far from here last year. I so appreciate your comments.
