Your well penned words capture the uncertain clouds hovering over humanity. I pray the final lines are prophetic. Great artwork to compliment the message. I wish you well in the competition.

This is softly soothing, although
it tells of the poet loosing his quill
and muse -- the flow to the words,
and to both rhythm and rhyme, perfect
throughout
Good luck with the contest, my friend.

This is a wonderful, dark poem about a poet at the end of his life and career. You used nightfall as an apt metaphor. This poem affected me because it makes me think of the last poem I may write someday. I cannot worry about that. I must return to work and write as long as I can. Thank you for sharing your journey with me.

Hi DragonSkulls. This has been skilfully crafted and is a sheer joy to read. I like that 'the earth itself was it's own masterpiece' that alone says so much. loved it, alf

Hi there,
This is a wonderfully vivid poem.
A nice meditation on the passing years and the change in the poet's perspective. When does writing become a chore and inspiration departs? I hope we don't find out.
Very nicely pen and superb accompanying art work

This is a beautiful sonnet explaining how life has moved on, and what was once a life of joy and expectation has been replaced by days less promising and restricted. Your use wonderful metaphors, none less effective than the 'quill' image that remembers being active and appreciative at day's dawn, but later you explain how year's gone have dulled the quill. Even in the final couplet, you speculate about the quill 'rising again'. Your technical sonnet knowledge is clearly evident throughout, right down to the perfect volta in verse 3. All the best with this lovely piece in the contest.

Wow! What a beautifully written poem, photo and color scheme. Virtual six, instead. Just love the rhythm, progression and flow as seen by your clever use of descriptive wording. Impressive imagery seen throughout. Poem has a lot of meaning too.
Thanks for sharing, Deb

You have chosen a beautiful picture accompany this wonderful poem that chronicles the downward slide in the life of a poet. You have invited us into a glimpse of this poet's soul, as you beautifully use a metaphor of the rising Sun.
Sadly, the poets days of inspiration have passed him by. The hope remains that one day the sun may shine again, and inspiration may return that once displayed the passion of burning fire, deep within his breast.

What a lovely piece in which one may see the higher forces of life only to be brought back to the mundane. Your last lines bring hope however, and oten that is what is needed.
