Hahahahaha! G'day John, I love that and it ended up with a brilliant moral to the story. I could feel how pissed of mango was trying to tell it. You are a great story teller and a great man. Cheers Fez

I like this story and the method of teaching children right from wrong is crucial and your story does that. It teaches them a valuable lesson, friends are hard to find, so don't ruin it by spreading gossip around about them. Thank you for sharing.

Gossiping is infectous and rumours fly thick and fast in gossips. Nobody takes the trouble to separate truth from rumours. Your story is interesting for children. It has a moral lesson which should be learnt and put into practice by children and adults alike: do not believe in rumours and verify the truth yourself instead of going by what gossipers like you to believe.

Hi jmdg1954
Sounds like a lesson a lot of folk would benefit from taking on board. Nicely told and a fun way to impart it to kids.
One correction for you -
Your learning." - ... you're (you are) learning."
Patrick

We had a beagle for 16 years before having to put her to sleep. They are great dogs, and yes, will eat until they are over satiated.
Thank you for the review. John

What a great way to teach children and grownups the rules about gossiping, especially if it is about your friend. Your characters are cute and their dialogue us engaging. 8-)

I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
It has interest, momentum and closure, plus a wonderful lesson to learn.
The characters were fun and introduced nicely into the story.
Grammar, punctuation and formatting were well done.
One glitch -3rd line from bottom. Your=you're.
A virtual six.
:-) Shirley

A Mango & Bert story "Mango and Ranger Joe" This is a very good children's story you have created here. Also think about a children's story where you make up your own type of animals, with their own unique dialogue. Well done.
check: 'Sure, Hugo(,)' Mango answered(,) 'just follow us.'

What a fun story this is, John, with a lesson to be learned by both children and some adults. You brought these charming animals to life in your story, and I enjoyed the dialogue between them. I do have to admit, though, that I wondered just what Mango was going to divulge about Ranger Joe. Best to keep us guessing, I suppose. Nice job with this.

Comment from Phyllis Stewart
Very good, John. A lesson not just kids need to learn, but their parents too! Well expressed thru the dialogue... easy for a child to comprehend. Bravo!
A few things to fix:
>> Your learning << You're = You are. Your = belonging to you.
>> I guess the lesson here is, don't let a rumor << Incorrect comma. Remove it.
>> interjected Belinda Bunny.<< The rule is use ONLY "said" or "asked", even in adult books. Kids won't know what "interjected" means and it stands out anyway. You never want speech tags to stand out. You want them as unnoticeable as possible, which is why you stick to "said" and "asked" when you use speech tags instead of action tags. A mix of both is best.
