There is indeed a boogey-man
I learned that a long time ago
This is a great entry for the horror-writing poetry promt
It is incredibly creepy. I image this is a story kids could
tell around a campfire. Very nice

Good luck

Great picture and presentation to the thriller. You certainly met the requirements of the contest with the more frightful the better. Good abcb rhyme. I may have to check under my bed tonight after reading this. Good luck in the contest.

Hi anon - Seven excellent stanzas in good abcb rhyme throughout. It certainly fits the bill for horror - your first verse is gruesome and it never lets up. NOT TO BE READ BY CHILDREN LOL. But seriously, it really is a frightening story, very well written and I actually found it frightening. I think it's your use of children in the story that gets me. Ugh! Good Luck in the contest. Kind regards Dorothy

I hear that the boogie man likes to dance, boogie, man, do you get it? Anyways, I liked this poem, it flowed well and has some very good poetic vibrations in its phrases. I enjoyed reading and writing this response for it... John

Excellent! This is a great horror poem, with just a hint of humour in the statement about the Boogey Man, but I won't mention it because you can't use humour in this prompt. I loved the build up; about the saw, the cromson bath etc. Sets up the character as a real mean one. The fact that he loves to wear a coat made of children is really cool, in a morbid sort of way. But, I loved best the idea of him waiting silently for parents to go to bed after checking for monsters. Your verse is very well constructed and flows very smoothly. A great contender.

Excellent entry for this Horror contest - I see there are only two entries so far and what a fight there will be between the two of you masters of the genre.

Lots of suspense in the earlier stanzas as the reader absorbs the point of view and then you hit them with that final scary line.

Good luck.

Steve

Oh, well done indeed. You fiend of the night! This is a very well penned poem of the horror genre where you focus on the taking of children. I really did enjoy it and I think you manage this horror concept very well. I think the pause in your last line adds to the horror, and the colour in the presentation is most appropriate. Giddy

Ok - I have been spectacularly horrified through your wondrous ability to rhyme and tell a story through verse. And I am thorough checking the entire house tonight before I go to bed. Brilliant Poem.
