How far did the copter fly from the house? I doubt the explosion would be heard at all, unless that dry lake is just two or three miles away. I thought they flew farther to be safe. Whatever. You really should research the distance from place to place and then find out how far an explosion would carry thru the air. If it bothered me, it will bother others once the book is selling millions. COuld ruin your career! My goodness! You'd better check on that RIGHT NOW! LOL!
