Oooh, the poor guy! That would be quite a shock. Speaking of shock, I can imagine the one his wife will be getting in the next day or two, when they come for her.

How very intriguing, this tale of discovered treachery due to a letter returned fir insufficient postage. Very well told, leaving conclusions to our imaginations.

This is terrific...just voted for it. Can't understand why another one, which I thought was really dumb, is currently first, but hopefully that will change. This tells a whole story in just a very few words, and it's shocking, to boot. You can just imagine the emotions he's feeling!

Author, I like this story because it's pretty complex--given the 60-word limit. It took me a few reads just to figure out who was telling the story. I guess I'm slow.
It wasn't until I read the envelope that the story came together. I'd have never figured it out without 'Maximum Security Section'. I'm not a stickler, but did you count the words on the envelope?

We'll have money and a house as soon as he's dead I love you so much it hurts."
--I think you need a period after 'dead'.

Best of luck.

Peace, Lee

This is a good posting depicting the perfect artwork for the story. I could only wish I had six stars remaining to reward.
Awesome. Good luck with your entry in the contest. John

Hummmmm? Does this mean they will be switching places; or that he will be returning to prison? Sure sounds like conspiracy to me. Too bad she didn't use a Forever stamp. Best wishes with a fun entry.

wow..so wild a possibility a letter poses.

Do you suppose people really live like this with their choices?

I suspect they do, unfortunately.

Interesting account.

Hi - hard to get a story across in 60 words, but you managed to create the emotion of regret in even less! I'm not sure how the character would have gotten hold of the letter, if it was return to sender? Thanks for sharing and good luck in the comp.

Thank you, Paddy. I guess it wasn't very clear that his wife sent the letter from their house. I will try to make it clearer. Thanks for alerting me.

I had to read this several times because it was so clever and I wanted to get the story straight. Your author's notes helped provoke the intrigue as well. This could be a lead into a longer story. Well done.
