Very nice, but I grew up with the white stuff every winter, and now I may be getting old, but I don't appreciate the snow and cold much. I do appreciate your own sentiments, it can certainly be magical the first time you see it. And the poem is great, as is all your writing. :) Sandra

Yep. I think I might get tired of it too after a few days. hahaha. But once every few years is fun!! Glad you like the poem though. You would tire of the hundred degree heat too in a few days out here! mikey

Winter. Oh, dear friend, winter.
How endearingly long
have we solemnly spent
our solitude silently together,
as life doggedly endures
a stoic inspiration?
This a beauty peaceful poem, written with grace, and no hesitations that shows how the follow up subject lifts up your poem to the highest. Hugs Terry

I am so pleased you enjoyed this. I adore winter. Maybe because I have never had to really suffer through a harsh one. I have only seen it snow a couple times. But, I find it heroic to see trees laden with snow standing alone and strong surviving until spring arrives. mikey

I actually would have to travel a bit to see the snow. So rarely have seen it. I guess that is why it delights me so. I probably wouldn't like being buried in it after a few days!! glad you liked this, mikey

I am so glad we are moving into summer. I am not a big fan of winter. Must be because I am a summer baby :) Thanks for sharing the interesting poem though.

I have the great advantage of experiencing winter at about 65 degrees! It snows for about an hour every three or four years. Not to harsh I suspect. Summer we have plenty of though. mikey

How touching! Grim, stoic winter is your true friend. I detect a metaphorical purpose here: you prefer winter, because you'd rather know the worst than life can dish out - and face it.

There is probably truth in that. It has a familiar ring. I know I find much in the heroic nature of a tree stripped bare enduring all of the snow and harshness and surviving it. Very astute observation. Well put. mikey

"But,I know as I see these snowflakes,
dancing and darting and floating
down, in patterns designed by playful angels,
that this is where the Lord
comes to play
with me.
It is why I am not cold"
The expression is so lively I feel as if winter is knocking at my door. It is a highly impressive and great piece of work.

What an interesting way to portray winter! You address winter as a "friend" with whom you have spent much time. I especially liked the use of alliterations: "relentless rain" and "haughty hell-bent hail". It's almost musical. Great ending: "It s why I am not cold." Beautiful writing.
One question: Stanza 4, Line 9 - did you mean to show gravity as plural (gravities) or possessive (gravity's)?

I did mean gravity's, thank you for catching that. So glad you liked this. I really do love winter and have written about it quite a bit over the years. I do almost view winter as a friend. Almost like I have used him so much in poetry that I owe him that. Thank you very much for the excellent review. much appreciated, mikey

Very nice work. Can't relate to the extreme cold winters you guys get over there. Thy reckoned the pipes used to freeze out here in Winter but that has never happened to us in the 26.5 years we have lived here.
Does it need some commas in there? Also is metre good enough do you think? Or is it the Modern poetry thing of noo mtre and no rhyme? hehe! Good stuff anyway mate.

Oh, it could probably use some more commas. But, at least it has some. hahaha. A couple months back it wouldn't have had a one! Yes, this is a free verse, so no meter or rhyme in it to speak of. Just supposed to let words kind of flow out and hopefully come to a point. fun way to write sometimes. some interesting things come out of it. sometimes though it goes off the old deep end!! mikey

Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! A write about winter...I really love the last few lines, "that this is where the Lord comes to play with me. It is why I am not cold." Those are wonderful words, and I believe give Glory to the Lord. Blessings : )

Amen. Can you believe I never saw snow until I moved to the desert? ha! The neighbors thought we were crazy running around in it like kids! I am happy you like this. I love winter and write about it all the time. I think you might like fall the same way. mikey

LOL REALLY? That's weird. But then again, I really don't know anything about the desert, except that it has sand, so go figure! I'm guessing that you both loved playing in the snow?? lol I HATE WINTER. Lived here all my life, and READY TO MOVE TO ARIZONA...NOW! Well, really it will be four years, but I'm counting down.
