I'm in awe of your professional slickness, Bev. The opening Brian-Alyx exchange has warmth and tenderness, helping fix Brian's character for the reader, and darcy's some piece of work! Nothing but admiration, Bevvers.

I really enjoyed this. Your writing moved the story smoothly. The dialogue exchange was realistic. God, as much as I can't stand snakes, I actually can't stop looking at that beautiful art work you chose.

I love that picture, too, and I don't much care for snakes. And the artist has very graciously reviewed ever chapter the painting has accompanied.

Thanks for stopping by to read and for your encouraging review.

Wow, what a piece of work Darcy is. You have nailed her character. I like the way you showcased the priest's growing annoyance an his struggle to hide it. I am always awed by some folks' ability to manipulate. Another great job of character building.

The writer does a good job of drawing the reader into this chapter. This chapter taps into the emotions of the reader as the reader feels like he is a part of the chapter. The transition is good as well as the balance. The pace is steady and consistent as the writer does a good job of bringing this chapter to an ending that makes the reader smile.

Wow - I have not read the earlier part of this story and did not expect to understand the plot. But this chapter really packs a punch and drew me in. The personalities of the 2 principles are intriguing and, without knowing what came before, I want to know what will now happen! Must keep an eye on that Darcy:)!!

I can just see Darcy hitting the floor. LOL I enjoyed the great characterization and descriptions. You did a good job with this post. The dialogue flowed very natural. Good job.

Perfect description of a dog's behaviour at the start of this post, Bev. Right on the nose, if you'll pardon the pun! How true that pets are so good for stress.

I laughed at Darcy's grand entrance! What a sneaky character. I think we all know a Darcy. LOL! Father Brian kept his cool very well, the poor man.

Great chapter, my friend.

Only spotted one thing I might consider changing:

I was reminded kind of of Jan Karon, except for the word "damn." Were they saying "damn" in a church, because that would be really surprising, as was having a preacher day "damn." The writing was really good.

Hi, G. Thank you so much for taking time to read my chapter. The scene takes place in the rectory - hope that eases your mind a little. Darcy is not Catholic and really has no respect for her Aunt's cherished beliefs. I'd hoped to convey that.

    Warm regards, Bev

I think this is a well written composition. The wording used to describe the dog in the opening of chapter; then body of Debra is excellently detailed. I enjoyed also the reference of the Catholic priest as reaching out in beneevolence and being caring. Very good character development surrround a mysterious murder. .

I found this post amusing, as father Brian stick handled Darcy's rude and forward manner. She doesn't sound much like someone who is grieving over arrangements regarding her aunt's funeral.

What is the leaded kind of coffee?

Did father Brian agree to pay for lunch himself? He may be serving wafers and wine. LOL

Excellent post!

Cheers,
DW

Hi, Donald. Thanks for your great review. 'Leaded' means with caffeine. Something my dad used to say that all the time. Appreciate your support, my friend.
