Hi Kay,
I don't follow horseracing either, but I love the name "Black Caviar." Glad to hear they've retired him while he's still a champ. Good poem.
Hugs,
Lois

Hello Lois, Thanks for reading - this little mare loved to race and she beat the field every time she raced. She is now resting and soon to be a mother. Hugs, Kay.

this was an enjoyable read and brought memories back of my last visit to Ascot about 10 years ago. I thought I had no money on me and wanted to stick a fiver on a rank outsider - thinks was something like 100 to 1. My husband refused to lend it to me and guess what - it won! Worse thing was, the next day I realised I had a fiver at the bottom of my handbag. Anyway, thought I would share that and will probably do a write on it since you have reminded me :) - oh, I have a long memory, so he is still not forgiven! best Indie

Hello Indie, Sounds like you were pipped at the post! Too late she cried; Black Caviar lifted the nations' spirits and now she will be a mother. Her half-brother sold just recently for five million! Imagine what she is worth. Have a punt and write your story my friend. Cheers, Kay. :-D

A fitting tribute to a champion mare. Your accolades are well expressed and patriotic.
As a fellow Aussie I say well done.
I liked your overall presentation and your choice of pic.

G'day fellow Aussie, You would understand how the nation felt when Black Caviar was retired early - she was loved. Thanks for reading and Avagoodweekend! Cheers, Kay.

Yes a nice tribute to this great horse. I don't follow racing either but she seemed to capture the attention of the nation.

Hello Tia, Glad you liked the poem; she was a 'freak' as far as winning every race she entered - Ascot is in England and what an honour for her to win there. Now she is ready for motherhood. Cheers, Kay.
