We have an enemy that does everything he can to destroy our children. But we have the greatest weapon in the world - prayer. God hears your cry and will answer you I know! In the meantime, take authority over this enemy and command his to release your son from bondage. God has given us authority over the devil and all the demons, if we will just use that authority.

God bless, I am praying with you! LaVonne

Dear Writer,

I am so sorry to hear about your troubles with your son. Just a little encouragement, God is in control and your son has been rescued from himself by going to jail. Pray he will see the light while he is incarcerated. My husband and I volunteer at several jails and give the good news of Christ and His saving power. We have seen many come to know The Lord and turn their hearts toward home! God bless, hang in there. If you need suggestion of books to read, I am happy to send you a few suggestions.

Thank you so much. I would love to hear the titles of those books. You can pm them to me if you want to. Thank you for your ministry in the jails. My son is still a good kid at heart --he's just very lost right now.

Reaching out for the one we love. Hurting to see them go down the road they choose. For God hears our cry and knows our heart. I wonderful letter written. Touched indeed. We always want the best for the one we love.

I know exactly what you are going through. My sister and I are both going through the same with our grandchildren. One (male) has spent most of his life in prison (drugs), one (female) has been in jail and prison 4 times (drugs and domestic violence)now out with ankle bracelet, One (female) in jail now, awaiting trial for child abuse and trying to escape (officer broke his leg trying to catch her), Three with suicide attempts, and one living in a clan. All from christian homes- So, I know what you are saying..and sympathize with you completely.
GREAT writing! I enjoyed it very much (not your suffering, but the read) Betty

Dear precious mother,

My heart aches for you. You've written a beautiful letter to your heavenly Father and what an amazing reply you received.

May every promise in His dear Word comfort you and continue to hold you in the assurance of his love and protection and care for your baby.

All my love and prayers,

A fellow mother and sister in Christ.

p.s. All the very best in the contest.

Drugs are a weapon Satan uses against many of our young and older people too. Never give up on him. God sees all and He hears your prayers. I will add him to my prayer list. Well written but indeed very sad. God loves you and I do too.

This contest entry is so bittersweet. It screams of a mother's desperation to save her son. Any parent who has witnessed the demise of this subject matter must have shed tears along with you Jan. I know I did.

Your letter flowed with sincerity and humility.

My heart breaks with yours. Glad you were listening and hear his whisper of hope and love.

Beautiful job in writing and motherhood.

Blessings.

Stop playing the victim. Every human being knows right from wrong especially after 4 years of age. When he was tempted with drugs, could you have been there to stop it your son? No..so you are not a failure and God had nothing to do with the whole mess..neither will prayer cure your son. He will do it with counselling, medication etc. I should know because my daughter was a drug addicted whore, cocaine stripper, runaway etc. Now she is happily married 15 years and is drug free(AA), gainfully employeed, and the mother of 2 wonderful daughters. She did it all on her own because we kicked her out at 15. Good luck. Well written piece but don't beat yourself up...my apologies if your story is fictional.

Regards:

Oh, now, that's a little harsh isn't it? I am the victim right now of a crime committed against me by my son. Of course you are right in saying I could not stop him and I don't need to feel guilty, but sometimes, it's a sad fact that I do, even knowing I shouldn't. I'm not blaming God either. I'm thrilled to hear your daughter is doing so well, and has turned her life around. I truly hope my son does too. He was homeless for four months but I'm afraid I just couldn't bear him to be on the streets through the winter months in the midwest. Perhaps I should have. We will never know. I do appreciate the rating and your comments.

powerful and effective imagery in describing the influence of drugs
This is heartbreaking - you convey so well the love a mother has for her precious child and how much she wants him to heal and how much she needs him to heal, but how she has to face up to the fact that right now, at least, she is powerless to make that happen. Sometimes you really do have to give it up to God, and this would be one of them. This is a very strong response to this contest's prompt. Brooke

Jan,

Your cry to God and His response to you are beautiful. I am glad you realize it's the drugs and not your son that brings on this evil. I pray with you for your lost son. I do believe Satan's rule over his life through drugs will end, as God revealed to you.

I also pray that God continues to comfort you in the midst of the life assignment He has given you.

Patricia
