This is an awesome poem, and congratulations on your win. I seemed to have completely missed seeing this prompt. What wonderful rhyme you have in this one. Love it :) Lise

Thank you.
We're all even, because I didn't notice your clever story 'Stolen Kiss', so congrats on that!

Thanks for the kind words.

I can't say I give 6 stars easily. We all have a limit we can give out and I've been saving mine - not for poetry - rather shorts. But!!!!! Your's did it. It brought me right to the brink... Click off - go to another selection my head was saying...But wait there's still another line.
Gawd, a month or so ago, I was asleep in my bed - peaceful - and something woke me. I turned on the light - and on the wall - headed directly toward me - a Georgia Scorpian. They are not as big as the western ones...But from what I'm told...Give a hell of a bite - and it hurts.
Geez. Right there in my bedroom - for all to see - for all to "RUN" from. I hate the little critters - all of them - and now that I've read your poem - I'm sure there are dozens waiting for me tonight.
Thanks. RUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNN.

Now I didn't mention scorpions - all my critters were benevolent and sweet. Worst we get here is geckos, unless a snake comes slithering in.
Anyway, thank you for the six stars - like you I'm stingy with them, so I appreciate getting it.

Hello kiwisteveh...
I can see why this one was the winner. The allusions, rhyme and rhythm are superb. Further, it is completely sustained all the way through. This is a children's poem that adults may also enjoy.
Warmly, Rebecca

Thank you - just twisted enough to garner votes... although that last stanza was a risk and it did put some people off.

Absolutely terrifying - I love it completely. Great imagination with the names of the critters and your last stanza tells me that you may have been, like most of us, 'asked' to help with some baby sitting at an unexpected moment or two.
