When you said read the author's notes first, you weren't kidding, were you! Wow. This is awesome. I truly wish I had a six-star review left to award this exceptional piece.

It was an honor, as the mother of two American soldiers to read this.

It was an honor as the mother of four children whose great-grandmother was Japanese, to read this.

Thank you so much.

One of the most beautiful and
poiniant writings I have read in
a long, long time. The juxtaposition
of your creation, one young American,
one young Japaneese youth, their
feelings, their love for the same country
done with sensitivity and an honest approach giving
both sides of an eposide in history.
A vivid story told with a quiet emotion and
passion leaving it up to the reader to form
his own feelings of this period in history.
Well done

Very well-written, thought-provoking piece. This was clearly well-researched. You did a great job demonstrating both viewpoints. I didn't see any grammatical or spelling errors and have no suggestions to better it. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.

Hello Mrs. KT

I must tell you that I got chills reading this. I hardly know what to say. You have taken two different poignant subjects, and used the one to show how huge the other one was. A sad sad thing for this country's citizens to have given and received. Thank you for writing it.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this piece of work, and was impressed by the amount of thought, personal touches and research you had put into making it so detailed without being over complicated. Thank you for sharing. Thought provoking material reminding us to be grateful of now, for there have been sadder times for many.

This is fantabulous, Mrs. K.T. What a lovely name you have! I must admit I avoided reading it because of the title. I should have known better though - this is so sad, so poignant and so thought-provoking. Can you imagine having to endure such horrors at any age, but at twenty-one or younger?? I had heard of the mass hysteria against the Japanese during the Second World War but wasn't aware of such torture and horrors. So, both sides suffered. Yes, I know that. War rarely makes sense. Very interesting format. I've never seen a poem like this before. I wrote an anti-war poem several months ago but I'm reluctant to post it in case it's taken the wrong way. Well done. Penelope

Hello Penelope! I am afraid that I merely touched on the surface of the horrors so many endured. Thank you so much for stopping by and your kind review! diane

KT, this was truly an excellently written piece which demonstrated a sound understanding of both situations and the commonalities shared, both good but more importantly bad. Great stuff! :o)

You've given this piece a lot of time with what appears to be a resounding amount of research and created a beautiful piece. Thanks for sharing.
