Excellent poem to accompany your excellent painting. I loved the nostalgic tone and the way the poem flowed like the river with new scenes floating by. A sweet tribute to his deceased mother.

Very nicely done Pam.

There is a lot to unpack in this poem. There is a man on a clock, a person almost drowning, and a deceased mom. But the whole thing is told gently, as a background to the peaceful art of painting. I suppose art can do that - provide a peaceful alcove where we can take a break from a stressful world.

Pam,

This is a great poem. It's kind of sad at the same time. Painting for someone who has passed is a special type of tribute to the person who has gone.

Well done my friend

A very touching story, never having that delight of viewing a painter work in progress. I would have visited everyday to learn technic of that artistry. A great shout in my given viewpoint.

This is lovely, my friend, the rhyme and meter flawless, but I think what makes it so very special to me is the imagery it evokes, and not simply the beautiful sounds and mental pictures, but the sentiment.

It's awesome to have river waters in the land to paint a beautiful and serene picture in memory of your Mom.
I like your patience and gratitude expressed in each written line. Life moments do create the hues of our mind.

Once again, I read your post, and found the simplicity rather close to the other piece read. Your words flow more likely from a younger mind. Are you so age-wise or only in recollections?

Hi Pam. I have often wondered about pieces of art that are passed from generation to generation. How long are they meaningful? And to whom? We have some art from our grandmother and it seems like the 30 year olds from today don't want it. You did a lovely job in crafting this one. I enjoyed reading it.

What an interesting poem, Pam.
I never saw the ending, but it is fitting. The painting a tribute and a memorial.
I also, enjoyed the painting, it naive style vividly captures the story, or does the story capture the painting?

I began reading this as a man who only sees the good side of life, as there was someone drowning that he didn't even see. Then it became a message to his deceased mother--something cheery again.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but the painter strikes me as someone who refuses to see life for what it really is.

I enjoyed reading it, Pam, as you always have a light, gliding, rhyming style to all of your poetry. And I like the image of a man painting the scene that he's in.

Thanks for sharing with us.
