I'm so sorry that such a precious representation of your father should have been lost. I too adored anything small when I was young so I can relate to the magic this city model held for you. It was not just beautiful to your young eyes but symbolised the essence of Christmas and reinforced your enduring faith. Thank you for sharing your charming Haibun, Gypsy. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Debbie

Oh yes, my mum knitted a nativity scene and gave it to my daughter, knowing she would look after it long after she died, and she does, a memorial to my dear mother and my daughter's nana, this is a wonderful halibun, well done, blessings Roy

Your haibun, "~ The Nativity Scene ~," is a beautifully nostalgic piece that captures the essence of cherished childhood memories and the spirit of Christmas. The vivid descriptions of the miniature Bethlehem and the emotional journey of your family's experiences make the story both relatable and touching. The haiku at the end encapsulates the sentiment perfectly, adding a poignant finish to the narrative.

Such a sweet story and an excellent entry for the Christmas Poetry contest. It's sad to know that his Bethlehem was lost but nothing can take away the memories that you were left with. Merry Christmas.

Thanks for sharing this precious memory. It's amazing that even though your father didn't believe, he did like re-creating the Christmas story in the Bethlehem town model that he made.

Yes, I think deep inside he believed in God. When my mother died he told me my mom was in heaven.
Thank you very much 😊
