Ahh, another great story. So you write poems too, with a dash of comedy.
Seems like we have a lot in common, but a lot of differences too... I'm 67 and the warranty on my parts has expired too.

CM,
Thank you for the wonderful review. I laughed when I read your words. I needed that. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Very clever. I've never heard it before "my engine light came on".
As someone once said, "Aging isn't for the feint of heart". (I couldn't find who coined the phrase.)
Best wishes.

A shout out to Nikki B. who saw a great theme for a poem and encouraged
you to go for it! I laughed so hard! I'm (don't tell a soul, she said on a writer's site with eleventy-million members, give or take) --but I am SEVENTY-ONE! I'm quite sure my "Check Engine Light" is not only on, but blinking bright red and maybe even with a little emergency siren...
(sigh)
I loved every line here, Cecilia. I don't know how any of us got to be over sixty. Clearly there was some time warp (don't you agree?)--
BUT-- if we're going to start needing excessive maintenance, let's do it with a smile, which your great poem provides!
(BTW? From here, sixty-one sounds like a teenager, so enjoy it while you can!)
Merry Christmas Week!

Karenina,
Thank you for the wonderful review. I'm glad I could make you smile and have a little laugh. If I'm a teenager I surely don't feel like it. Ha, Ha.
Have a great evening my friend.

Just wait to you get to be 71-- then you'll know what I mean!

Karenina,
By then my warranty will have expired on some of my parts. LOL

It's funny how we can look at things that cam hinder us as we age, and the analogy of the ageing car, the lights come on at the most inappropriate times, which can mean something or even nothing, things are wearing out. Beautifully written Cecilia, blessings Roy

I can certainly relate to your poem. At 77, I feel 30 but when I look in the mirror , I get a full dose of reality. I think I can still skateboard but my wife informs me otherwise.

62 is far behind in the rearview mirror for me. I can hardly even remember what 62 was like. 62 for me was 24 years ago and mine. The things that I have learned in the 24 years. In 24 years I have learned how to use a computer I have made webpages. I have done computer artwork I have done so many fantastic things with the technology that we have today. So my advice to you young lady is pull up your panties deal with it and go about to becoming a very good artist a poet or whatever it is that you want to be. I am enjoying your work. Patricia.

Patricia,
Thank you for the wonderful review. Yes, ma'am I got those panties pulled up and am striving forward. This was a fun poem to write. My muse finally decided to come back. I have her tied to the desk. You're a spring chicken my friend.

Yes, I think my check engine light has also been on for some time! When we're young we tend to have 'mechanical' faults one at a time, not a whole shedful of them! The image is great, Cecilia, and, at the end of the day, we need to see the humorous side of growing old, even though it's often not pretty, as your fourth stanza suggests! Well done! Debbie

Well this really brought a smile to my face as soon as I saw the name I said, haha, she's done it!
I love the dramatic starting stanza, 'what was going on I thought I might be dead!
Then onto to all the aches and pains and the weak bladder reference with ' pee running down my leg' made me laugh out loud. (or is it really something to laugh about!)
Well if we can't be silly and and joke and make fun about these things, wouldn't be miserable fools!
Brilliant, well done, such fun.

Nicki,
Thank you for the wonderful review. I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you hadn't mentioned that it would make a great title for a poem. I wouldn't have given it much more thought.
Thank you my friend for making my muse come back and give me some creativity. I appreciate you.
