Very nice story, Barb. You are right to lobby for a pet. Kids need pets. I used to teach school in New Hampshire. What town did she grow up in?

I don't remember the name, but it's a small rural town. Thank you for the kind support.

Oh I did enjoy this. I love reading about family
anecdotes. This was very funny. All the time you maintained silence? Very wise. I agree with Andrew .LC wouldn't like it at all if a hamster tried to usurp her position thanks for sharing.
PS Are you happy of sad that Trump won

I am extremely happy Trump won. The Biden administration censored us and worked at attempting to take away our freedom of religion. We were headed for communism. Trump is not a good person but does lead us toward democracy. We were a lot better off with him in office. Thank you for the kind review.

According to the mainstream news he is, but it ended they were lying and really had no charges they could hold against him. The mainstream news told a lot of lies. Follow the money on who owns the news corporations.

Hi Barbara,
This is a cute story about the kiddos wanting something, even if a hamster. They would have preferred a dog, but it looks like even a hamster is out.

Boy can be a handful, that's for sure. I had two of them. My daughter was much easier...until their teens, then it all flips.

Thanks for sharing,
Hugs,
Rhonda

"Is to going to snow . . ." Not sure if you mean "Is too going to snow" or "It is going to snow"

I love the way this conversation went from "New Hampshire" to one hamster to two hamsters, lol!

"As he closed door" - "As he closed THE door"

"There are sandwiches in THE bag" - add "the"

I loved this story, Barbara! I guess Katie is the one who most often has the final say since the girls kept asking her for confirmation. Your son and three women, lol. Wait until they are teenagers - it'll be worse than boys:-)

I keep hearing it is. When Andrew told me Eleanor was going to be a girl, he said, "I guess I'd better figure out all these emotions." LOL Thank you for the catches. Some else said I'd forgotten some 'the' and I reread it twice and still didn't catch them. Thank you for the specifics.

I think we all have memories of when we begged our parents for a pet. I remember begging mine for years for a dog, we finally got one when I left school. A well written piece, Barbara, I enjoyed reading it.

Lol. Your poor son! I'm surprised he didn't say he bought "hamster" sandwiches but then they wouldn't eat them. I hope they get another pet that would suit everyone.

Typos you probably fixed:
Andrew held Eleanor hand (Eleanor's)
I'm not hungry," said Elleanor. (Eleanor)

Thank you for the catches. I have made the corrections. I always appreciate help. They just lost a cat, Max a few weeks ago. They still have LC, and she's a real stinker.

Well, their desire for a dog has now been replaced by a fixation on getting not one, but two, hamsters. A fun story and they will laugh about it later. Thanks for sharing, and bringing a smile.

I believe Eleanor, in her desire to have a hamster, deliberately misinterpreted what her mother was saying. She heard the reference to New Hampshire and seized on the opportunity to indicate her desire for a hamster. Why a hamster, I don't know, although some people must like them. Then, of course, there has to be a hamster for Charlotte, too. When Dad stops, they're sure it's to pick up two hamsters to go. Wow! Those gals are hard to convince! Dad's explanation starting with "We're not getting any color of a hamster" is so funny. It sounds like a routine from an old radio show. Deloghtful anecdote. judi

Eleanor is the stinker of the bunch. She has a mind of her own and no problem expressing it. LOL Thank you for the support.

Don't get a hamster, they bite. This is a really cute story that could be publishable. If you are interested in publishing, you might start taking free info sites: Funds for Writers, Author's Publish, Worldwide Freelance (international site), and there are possibilities on LinkedIn (but I haven't found anything here to interest me). We have a cat like LC. Recently our ten-year-old asked if we could trade her in on a cat that would love him. There are 4 places where you left out a little word.

I've added some words, others have pointed out. I hope I got them all. I have a bad habit of leaving out those small words and when I edit, I read as if those words are there. LOL thank you for the kind review.

lol A humorous story. Lots of fun to read. When things like this happen in a family, especially due to children misunderstanding words said, it can lead to quite a fiasco! If you're lucky enough to think about it, it's good to write it down after it happens to remember for later and a good laugh. Thanks for sharing.
