Well, that's quite a dystopian view of the future from Fran. Of course, I believe in a lot of these dystopian scenarios. I liked that you included that paragraph.
The exchange with Daniel reminds me of how much time can slip by without talking to friends that meant so much to us. And how when we do get together, it is like we were never apart.
I thought "libation" was out of place (beer better), but then I remembered how Daniel always spoke so formally.
Aha! Julia is going to try to get pregnant, and everyone will "live happily ever after."
See you Sunday.

So, you think you've got it all figured out, do you? I've dropped just enough hints to guess in what direction the sequel may go. I hope you enjoy the epilogue which will be part of the final posting on Sunday.

I enjoy reading about the visit with Brian's roommate and the conversation with his sister. Brian and Julia haven seemed anxious to get married but maybe now they have seen how happy their friends are with their children they may start to consider having a family. It seems all is on tract with the drug.

They actually did get married right after their undergrad years, so they've been married 10 years at this point. Nice guess about their future, though.

Nicely written.
Brian learned that Dipraxa gave him a high with a double dose. Did he (and Julia) experiment to see whether Glyptophan would produce a high with (unprescribed) higher doses?
Best wishes.

I actually covered that in the final chapter, in which Brian tried not only a double dose but a quadruple dose with no ill effect. But your question prompted me to move that fact from that chapter to this one. It's there now, where I think it's more appropriate. Thanks for the question.

Connecting with old friends here is always cathartic as we see how far we have come and how our feelings do not change when we reunite. I sincerely hope Brian and Julia stay together as going through the hard times often cements a relationship, but in this case she may be tired of the ups and downs of drug induced trauma. Another fine chapter Jim, love Dolly x x x

Thanks very much, Dolly. As far as I know, Brian never gets involved with drugs again except for his own, which is non-addictive and doesn't get him high, so I think it's a pretty safe bet they will stay together.

There are so many ways this could go. A big pharma company buys the drug then shelves it. A big pharma buys it sells it and better pain control saves the world. ETC. Love to you and yours

Thanks so much, Karen. We'll find out in the final chapter how it goes, but the epilogue may surprise you for it may open up a can of worms that would best remain closed.

Wonderful chapter. I am so glad they have caught up with Fran, and with Daniel and Kimi. I hope the final chapter includes what I hope it will (two things) so I am looking forward to Sunday! Well written.
