Good morning, Janet!
What a moving, heartfelt and exceptionally well-crafted poetic offering.
Your words speaks to me as well ... on so many levels. But this stanza truly resonated with me:
It is not hard to see the bad.
It blares so loud, it even boasts.
But, when I look expecting good
I may just find it has the most.
We must keep believing, striving, knowing that
Each sunset makes me take a breath
and smile at the amazing view
I watch until the last glow ends.
Another day, a gift from You.
Thank you for sharing, Janet!
Stay strong!
Fondly,
diane

First, your notes... Don't you dare destroy that journal! (lol) I have read your work many times and I have loved every word you wrote. So will your loved ones, I bet.
Flawless meter, lovely abcb rhyme scheme and wonderfully evocative -- what is not to love?

I'm glad you didn't destroy them before writing this! I, too, have been going back through the dusty sheets of time and finding the honesty of youth quite disconcerting. You have captured the moment beautifully in your poem.

Hi Janet, your poem is beautifully penned and heartfelt. Of special note;
Each sunset makes me take a breath
(Indeed, it does. Each day is a gift)
Also:
Old burdens seemed a lethal brew.
(It's amazing how full that luggage can be.)
Good imagery and sensory appeal. A pleasure to read.
Well done. Margaret ~ LateBloomer

This isn't only a beautiful spiritual poem, but a reminder to us all to be thankful for what we have and dwell on that and not on what we've lost. I admire that you've managed to get all that across in perfect rhyme and meter. Lovely job.

You are nice! God has said, "pour out your heart to Me" and it seems you did just that...isn't that what the Psalms reflect?
And how often they have consoled me in my many faults, fears and failings, even as they continue to do today for untold millions of God's beloved people.
I love how you presented this same idea for your own journal!
Have you ever read "A Shepherd
Looks At the 23rd Psalm?"
You can get it in paperback from CBD on line for about $3.00.
It's a wonderful read. God bless you dear sister and do keep writing. YBIC Dennis

Thank you Dennis for the amazing review and the special stars.
I have not read "A Shepherd Look At the 23rd Psalm" but I will definitely get a copy to read. I?m reading through the Psalms right now and I feel some of my writings reflects the inspiration of them.
So pleased you enjoyed this one.
Blessings

Writing in journals can be therapeutic, but the thoughts and feelings need not be shared! They are from your heart and should be for your eyes only. The journey recorded on the pages can reveal the good, the bad and the ugly. And hopefully we will see more good than bad. - upon reflection.

Thank you for your thoughtful and encouraging review. We do find the good, the bad and the ugly from day to day. Thankfully, at the end of the day, I have been blessed with more good.

I can't say I blame you for not wanting to let anyone read your journals. I wouldn't either. In dark tiimes, only God sees that side of me. He knows anyway, so we might as well tell Him. It feels better to get it out. Wonderfully written from the soul, my friend. By the way, you are very nice. No dispute there.
Sending you my best today as always.
