The Germans were inured to what was happening because, before the Jews, Gays and Gypsies, were rounded up, all the people in institutions and old people's homes were killed because they were useless eaters. Their world was desperate to pull out of the hideous depression that was killing people every day with starvation. I don't think they did the right thing, but they saw it that way.

Hi Paul, this touched my heart. No, never again! It's heartbreaking to think of the little girl not knowing she's on her way to her own destruction. I have often asked myself, how could this possibly have happened. But it did, and now the world is once again turning to the extreme right. Why can man never learn? Ulla:)))

May that level of hatred "never again" be demonstrated on earth. People are all part of different cultures, religions, customs and belief systems, but they are all human. They all want adequate food and shelter and safety for their families. Plus...they all want to live. Your story is a heartfelt reminder of the devastation caused by history's persecutors. Thanks, Lorraine. Almost everyone on this earth just wants to live their life and get along with their neighbors. We have been subjected to many horrors because of a very few evil people.

This is a sad post Paul and these peaceful people went to their violent deaths with hope in their hearts. A tragedy that must never be repeated.

I watched a program recently and it stated that Joseph Goebbels has a club foot and Adolf Hitler had a genital defect, so much for a pure race? I think what Hitler hated in others was inherent in himself. He hated the Jews because they were clever, educated and able to get on with each other and others outside there religious beliefs. They had thriving businesses and they could have made Germany prosperous. Instead he wanted to wipe them out through envy and hatred. A fine post Paul, love Dolly x x x

I still have trouble understanding how such a thing as the holocaust could happen. There must be a special place in Hell for those who were involved.
