Congratulations winner! Of course, I never thought for a moment that you would actually pick the petals of a flower to determine the answer to your question. You knew the answer. Very well done. Terry.

Thank you so very much Terry. I appreciate your kind words and the congrats. And no, not sure if I ever did the flower petal thing, so that is why I turned it around to show that He was picking the dying petals off of me instead. There were a few that needed pulling back then. That must be where that old saying, 'Truth is scarier than fiction,' came from. I am always honored by your six stars as well, so thank you for that awesome rating.

Now that could be a good prose story?LOL

Dasie Love. Amaizing how one knows their mate even if it is in the simplicity of removing peddles from a flower. Only long marriage reveals the truth. Good post.

Hi Ben, and yes that is true, except in this poem it is all about Jesus.
I only hint at it through out but he at the end it ties it all together.
Thank you for your lovely review and comments

First of all, congratulations on your well deserved win of the love poem contest. As I read your poem, it made me feel warm and fuzzy to think about being together over forty years. I immediately thought of me and my husband of fifty years. By the final verse, POW! I felt warm and spiritually blessed. I love the creative way you crafted this poem with a deeper meaning than I originally thought. Very well done.

Thanks so much Lorraine. The only way I could pull it off was to use all capital letters, or my capping of the words 'His and Him' would have given it away. And actually my husband and I will be married 49 years next week, (but together for 51) But my true relationship with Christ has only been about 40 years. Before that, I was a part time Christian, which doesn't work too well. Lol.... Thank you for the loveliest review and comments ever and honoring this with a six star rate. That means the world to me. Thanks again my very sweet friend.

Rebekka, you are so kind. I thank you so very much for your lovely review and words for my love of Jesus for the love poem contest. And also for the gift of six stars. It's so appreciated, my dear friend!

My pleasure entirely dear friend <3

It looks like congratulations are in order. You will win the contest. I tried to give you some competition, but you buried me. The religious angle is always a front runner.

Hi Paul, I never think of using spirituality in my writing to be an angle. Maybe you meant angel? Lol....
Seriously, I did get what you mean. It is just that when I came to FanStory, it wasn't any of my doing at all. God brought me here for a reason and that was so I could spread His Word, joy, love and build on the good in people. I have never thought of it as an angle. But there is much more to it than what I explained, but is mostly because at this time in my life I asked Him in all my morning prayers to let me be a blessing to others. And before you know it, this is where I am. All of a sudden the joke is on me. I am the blessed one. He does have a sense of humor. Thanks again my dear friend.

You are truly an outstanding agent for the Lord.

-Nice artwork and presentation.
-You wrote a good poem with a good topic.
-Effective imagery and rhyme, along with
smooth flow of ideas from verse to verse.
-You do a good job showing there has been
love in your life for a long time, but doubts still creep in.
-Even though you didn't trust, you decide you
will not go there alone and now know that you are loved.
-Very well done; good luck in the contest.

Pam, thanks so much for such a lovely review for my Loving Jesus poem. Not sure if too many wondered why I did it in all caps, and some didn't even notice. But I struggled if I was going to pull off the surprise ending, I had to use them. After all I would never think of not capitalizing any reference to Him.
I appreciate so much you always being so kind, yet always give the greatest feedback if needed. Thank you again my sweet friend.
-
You are very welcome, Debi, and I didn't think about why you used all caps. I just figured it was the style you wanted and it looked fine. Thanks for sharing in your reply.
Comment from Tom Horonzy
Do young people still pull petals today? Hmm.
I thought, as I read, what is it being said. Did two youth get together or not, Did puppy love become more? Did they marry? and then ... the cross.
Did you intentionally misdirect us? Puzzled, I am.

Yes, Tom, that's exactly what I was doing. That is why I did this one in all, caps. So you wouldn't figure it out. Purpled No more? Hahahaha!
Thanks for the awesome review!
-
well, smack me on the head and call me stupid. I never saw it was done in CAPITAL letters.
-
Did I say purpled?? Not sure what that was about but, then again, this keyboard comes up with the weirdest sayings and has a mind of it's own.
I think we have been whacked on the head by the same thing. Lol...
-
Purpled? Puzzled? I need to copy your use of all caps on the black background. Fanstorian yours!

Kim, You are so kind and sweet my friend. And I do appreciate such thoughtful words and the kind review. I am always honored by both of them. I appreciate you more than you could possibly know.' Thank you again dear friend
Comment from Zoe Webb
I was a little confused on the subject shifting from an ex to Jesus. I had to read it twice, but that could just be me.
Overall, this is really well done. You also did a great job styling the piece. It sets the tone very nicely!

Thanks Zoe. I can see why you thought that, but the entire poem was about Jesus. The part about being together for forty years was how long I have had my faith and been a Christian. But how it was rocky getting there. Knowing that I would have to give up some things, and feeling unworthy. Yes, it is all about Jesus. If you reread you will probably see it now. Thanks for your kind review and comments my dear friend.

Wow Linda, thank you my sweet friend. What a lovely review, comments and six stars, that I'm not sure that I am worthy of, but lol, I will most certainly accept and honor it. Just as you have honored me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, dear one.
I had to capitalize the whole thing because otherwise you all would have caught on right away, because I would never let our Lord's name go without caps. Just as I will never allow satan's name to get caps. I argued with a college professor many years ago about that and I won the argument. When he said that it was a proper noun, I said there was nothing proper about satan, and that was that. Hehe.
Thanks again Linda. You are the best!
-
your so very very welcome...
I thought it was very clever the way you
did that...
and like you...I would never let the Lord's name go without caps...but I never cap satans name...well done...smiling so big...love xxoo
