Before I forget thanks for bringing forward that particular Glen Campbell song, which I'd forgotten and will now be humming all day!
Gee. I wonder who you could be referring to in this poem? (Giggle)
You're clever "That's so Terry of you!" is not only catchy, I have a hunch it will have a lot of folks who've benefited from his TEXAS SIZED heart nodding and smiling right along with you.
He'd likely be the first to say "Aw shucks, I'm just paying it forward..."
So yes, I say three cheers for Mr. Broxson and his many acts of generosity. He's an unsung here that deserves to be sung about!
I think the best way we can honor him is to learn from his example. We all have something to give and to share...
Just as I'm sure Zoe is looking down at her husband and smiling, let's do whatever we can to spread kindness to others ~ the smile we may coax could make a world of difference!
I know you do that, Debi. I know of so many who do that. Like I tell myself every single day as I ask God what I can do for HIM...
I'll try my best to do a little better...

I think that is what I love about you the most. Is knowing that you always try to be the kindest you can be, but don't let anyone push you around either. I was just telling this to Terry about that mama bear that comes out.
Before I joined FS, I knew He had something in mind for me, because I always pray when I wake up that He will let me be a blessing to everyone I am in contact with that day. Well God sent me here and now I feel that by so many of you, I am the one who is being blessed. But I still pray that prayer everyday, because like you, unleashed we could really be Thelma and Louise. As I know we laugh about that title every once in a while but, ooooh the fun we would have. Lol! Wouldn't it be fun to cut loose for a week like that together?
Yes, I felt like if I were to pay tribute to Terry, that it could not be done without the mention of his true love in his life, of Zoe. I suspect that he is who he is because of her in so many ways.
Thanks so much for your lovely words for Terry's poem as well as for him. I couldn't agree with you more.
Just so you know, I am going to let everyone know in profile thoughts that Gary had another setback too. So please don't pm him, but if you have something to say, put it on there. He is the type that needs to know people haven't forgotten, and yet he get's overwhelmed if he feels he should be answering them and we don't want him under any more stress.
Thanks sweetie and I will talk to you when you send me the next update on Ed. I am praying hard for both of you. Hope it is good news.

You have the best way of expressing yourself, Debi-- and yes, I agree!
Zoe and Terry are both angels. One is heaven based and one is firmly here on earth doing everything a man can, to spread "good tidings of great cheer."
I'm all in favor of shing light on those who do so much here and in life. Terry is that, and TEXAS size!
Thanks for the heads up on Gary. I'm so sorry to hear he's had a setback. I will refrain from PM's and post my prayers for him in profile thoughts.
I was "disinvited" from my "perch" today so things could proceed without a "meddling wife." The NERVE!
I'm on my way back soon though so will PM you or email when there's an update.
(Spoiler alert: You WERE sent here to be just who you are! Lucky us!)
Hugs!
Karenina

This is a wonderful present, Debi. I'm sure Terri will like it very much. I have enjoyed your rhymes and the new sentence you've coined.
The map is also cool.

Oh, Deborah, I'm not sure I know who this is, but your poem makes me want to know -- well done indeed! I have been a member here for a long time, but I'm not here nearly as much as I once was -- is Terry fairly new?
Best of luck in the contest!

Loved this poem for Terry, Debi! And the same could be said of you as you are so caring of others, too. I loved that you used "Terry" as an adverb substitute for "very." My favorite lines were:
"Your life once meant for Zoe, now for others you're the glue
Hooray for who you are, that's so Terry kind of you"
Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you Helen, I have been thinking about you and praying all is as well as it can be. Hope you continue to get my emails. I know that Karenina contacted you. Ugh, it feels like what we just went thru a couple months ago.
Thanks for the lovely review and words for this. Yesterday I wasn't sure about even doing this and then like my poem says, God wakes me up. He just reassured me it was a good time to spread some tidings of good cheer and sunshine, even tho I wasn't sure how well it would be received.
I guess the majority have been gracious and kind.
I like that the part that was your favorite was about Zoe and Terry being the glue. He is much like you in that way. And I took a chance with the Zoe part, but think Terry didn't mind. I just felt that how could you honor him without including the love of his life in there?
So thank you, Sweet friend and please get back to me when you can!
-
It was perfect, Debi! I am sure you gave a smile to Terry! I hope your entry will do well in the contest!
-
Hi Helen, how are things going? Are you doing ok?
Are you doing any writing while you are there. I am so pleased that you are staying in touch with us. Just wanted to tell you too that Gary had another setback but I don't know how bad it was. Thought you might want to know. Maybe this time I will just put it in profile thoughts so I can just copy and paste all the comments to him and he can read when he has time and up to it. Thanks again hon, for this wonderful review.

And Helen, I kept meaning to tell you this, congrats on winning the Newsletter contest. You were so the one to win. It was awesome!
-
Thank you so much for keeping me updated. Got your email and will be ramping up prayers when I get out to walk. The hard part is being in limbo until we are able to meet with the funeral home on Saturday. 💖
-
Thank you, Debi! And of course, a it was a "Terry" kind of thing for Terry to create the contest. 💖
-
Yes, indeed! And I am so happy you got it. It looked like I was going to get second, but took third at the last minute. So I kept my record going of placing in every contest that .I have joined. It's like a challenge, but when it no longer happens, it certainly won't bother me.
-
Thanks for letting me know.
Thinking loving thoughts for you, with lots of prayers!
-
Thank you, Debi!! You're so sweet and thoughtful!
Congrats on placing on every contest!!
-
Lol, I wish I hadn't said that.
It sounded terrible.
Take care Helen?!

Hi Debi, this poem made me smile from the very first line to the very last word. You have captured the essence of Terry in your poem.
I especially liked:
His writing can be serious, at times he's just a clown
He won't involve himself, in putting anybody down
(That's our Terry. He is just a really nice man.)
Silky rhyming scheme. Great photo choice. A pleasure to read. Writing this poem was so Terry kind of you, but you also did a Debi. Well done.
As this is a contest entry, I wish you good luck. Xo. M

Very cute poem. I love the pun with Terry's name. I had to go check out his portfolio, and I'm glad I did. Great way to spread a little kindness of your own! Have a blessed Christmas season.

I think I will be absenting myself from fs for a while. So much of what I read here is terrifically sentimental, religious, and, oddly, uninspired, Cleverness is prized more than authenticity and few writers at fs capture, or try to capture, the real experience of our minds, which, as far as anybody knows, are the most precious things in the universe. I think I know the Terry that Ms. Marquette has praised in this poem via what I have read of his poetry, which I have admired. I admire the good will and the skill in this poem, but it's fatally corny.

Frank I know you think that writing should only be one way, but you would maybe enjoy a little bit of creativity?
I couldn't stand to turn on the radio and only hear one kind of music, anymore than I can handle writing one kind of poetry. I enjoy a person who can exercise their brain, so it could stay open. If I have feedback, I only let tell them in a mature and helpful manner, and I would never mark them down because of the style of their writing or subject is not to my liking. I mark them down if they are lazy and sloppy and don't show any signs of talent , creativity or putting any work into it. And I certainly don't rate them by whether I liked the subject or style. That is completely irrelevant. Also you know I consider you to be a friend so if you look at your list of some of the subjects that you don't consider being proper subjects are spiritual, sentimental and being clever. If you look at every post here, I bet every portfolio has all of those and much of what you consider to be good.I know mine does. And maybe if we all shed a little of that green grinch skin, and added a little Christmas spirit and joy, you might enjoy even corny every once in a while. But just my opinion! Still love ya my friend!
